apparantley my XBOX tried to go online without being in stealth mode.
i have the MATRIX modchip which has the external dip swithes for different bios and for stealth mode. i also have an 80 gig HD which i created from my original drive and which i have put away.
anyway... now when i try to connect to LIVE i get a message saying my XBOX my have been modified.
i rewrote the files on the "C" partition of the hard drive with originals thinking LIVE may had marked those. tried to reconnect and same error message from LIVE.
do i need to change other files other than the ones in the "C" partition?
will i be able to fix this or are they linking this to my XBOX S/N???
if i get a different XBOX will i then be able to return to LIVE?
PLEASE ADVISE AS WHAT TO DO PLEASE...........

you need to get a new eeprom. then u gotta update the eeprom. never sign onto live with ur modchip on. its not worth the risk. you might also have to get a new hard drive because sometimes the eeprom is married to the hdd so theyre both banned. _________________ XBOX

where is the eprom located in the XBOX?
how can it be connected to the HD? if so, then would changing the HD fix the problem?
where can i find a new eprom?

i ran a backup of my system before this had happened. i just checked the folder it created and there is an eeprom.bin file in it. would this be my original eeprom? how do i put it back where it belongs?

that was your eeprom, but now it is banned. you need a new one that is not banned

if i cannot fix the eeprom would it be possible to take my HD and MATRIX modchip and put them in a different XBOX or is my HD also banned???

originally my XBOX had the stock HD (and this is where i started my XBL account) and i had to back it up and transfer the settings (obtained using config magic to do a backup) when setting up the 80 gig HD that is in it now. M$ did not know the HD changed then...
can i not use this theory to pull the settings from my additional XBOX HD and use those to re-set up my current 80 gig HD. should this not make M$ think this is my additional XBOX?
please let me know what you think............

well blighty sounds like the easy and expensive way out.... not used to doing things the easy way and do not see the need to spend money on unneeded items. as i can tell the HD is the only thing i would have to buy again and if you took the time to read my post, i may not have to unless somebody can tell me a reason it will not work. apparantly all i need is an eeprom and my additional xbox has one... unless like i said somebody can tell me why it should not work.

The info M$ collects has the HD serial in it as well as other stuff including the eeprom. WHen you run your box cloaked the M$ BIOS cant read a large drive, but when you go live with a hacked BIOS they read the BIOS and the fact that the size of the HD is being recognized as larger then stock. So now you need a neww EEPROM and possibly HD. you can try a new EEPROM only as that might do it but Id suggest a new HD as well and keep the one you have now for your PC or sell to someone who doesnt go live. YOu can also go with xlink kai or xbconnect as theyre free and dont give ashit if your modded or not. Play online with games from the HD _________________ Xbox v1.0
