Well, I've D/L some games from the usual sources and what I received are .rar files with more .rars inside with extensions .r00 to like r029 and several more uncompressed files picking up at .r30 to like .r39. Now I've d/l Qwix and tried several times to extract .iso's or create from them..Fact is, I have no clue what I'm to do with these..LOL
Is there a way to convert these to usable files that I can ftp over to the box and play? The games I have ripped to the box using DVD2Xbox have folders for maps and such and a .xbe to execute them. How the H#@# do I convert these to those...
Thanks for the help!!! _________________

Hi JohnnyD and welcome to HQ!
Ok.. Normally with any winrar files or compressed files you download from the internet you must use a program called WINRAR (http://www.winrar.com) to extract everything..
Always start with the .rar file or .001 file and extract to your pc hdd.
If you still get more .rar files or .r01 or .001 files then you will have to extract again..
Once finished you will either have the files just like when you use DVD2XBOX (eg. .xbe files) OR you will get a .ISO file (one file) which is ready to be burned to a DVD-R or CDRW..
Heres a link to some of our SWF (flash) tutorials which explain how to extract and create iso files of your own.
Thanks for the reply Forahobby!! I'll check out those tutorials and give it another shot. _________________

an ISO doesn't need to be burned to a disk, you can use Qwix to extract it to your xbox's hdd

Thats what I've been trying to do. Perhaps I'm not using Qwix properly but everything I've done only yeilds me another /rar file that has a .iso extension. Is there something else I need to do to create the .xbe file? And also to extract the actual game folders like I see on my Xbox HD? _________________

it it ends in .ISo its not a RAR archive, but WinRAR has stolen use of your ISO's!!!! hehe ok it nothing serious right click on that .ISO and go to properties and associate the .ISO with nero or DVDDecryptor or some burning app. then it won't be so confusing. the .ISO you have can either be burned or you can load it in Qwix and then FTP upload it
edit: a .RAR is a compressed archive. an ISO is the uncompressed image of the actual disk, so it appears to be a real disk. Qwix will extract the files from the image and ftp them into the xbox

Well, Thanks for all the help. I've managed to burn a game to disc then rip it on my Xbox. Still haven't been able to ftp anything useable to the box though. When I tried I saw all these par files on my xbox but it's unplayable. Still experementing.
Also tried changing file association like ya mentioned but the file remains a .rar. Removed association to .iso's from .rar as well. _________________
