Howdy folks,
I've noticed a problem that has so far only happened in Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath, and Mercenaries. During a particularly hectic part of the game, when a lot of things are happening, the system locks up - displaying the last thing on the screen, and gives a contiuous beep. The Xbox isn't overly hot, and other games which are just as graphically intense seem fine.
I was prepared to put it down to my copy of Stranger's Wrath - a bit scratched, but then mercenaries did the same thing this afternoon.
To my knowlegde my chip is an aladin, using evox - have not checked the version yet.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing it, and if it's hardware related, where I can get a modded Xbox repaired in Newcastle?

Typically from my experience there are several factors that can cause games to freeze up.
One is the bios being used. Another problem and this is a long shot, but also somewhat bios related, is the wrong bios for the version machine. If you happen to have a machine that has Hynix RAM in it that can cause games to freeze because the Hynix Ram is slower than the RAM that the bios was configured for.
Other issues are usually game rip related. Sometimes they just dont' rip correctly, patches are needed, and so on.
I would have to say in most cases it's bios related though.
Sorry I couldnt' give you a more definitive answer.

If that was the case though - wouldn't it lock up with every game? The bios etc was put in by a contac of Forahobby, so I'm guessing he knew what he was doing.
Strange that it's only with 2 games, burnt on different media, burnt exacly the same as my other backups.
Any other ideas?

Wasn't implying someone didn't know what they were doing.
Was just letting you know the possibilities...
Like I said, when back up games don't work it could be:
Bios related
Patch related
Corrupt file related
It really can't be much more than that.
If you could, please configure a signature so we know what setup you have as far as, chip installed, bios being used, default dash, also, what program are you using to rip these games??
