got some bad news guys and gals.. Been doing some investigating and seems xbox-scene wasnt allow to put the full url to their website on their t-shirts because of some stupid copyright issue.
Read the comments below the t-shirt to see what i mean.
ShavedRat: Awesome shirts. Too bad MS made them change the website name...

mickey: actually shaved rat its still www.xbox-scene.com they just couldn't put it on the shirt for copyright reasons
Basically it really states you shouldnt even have a website with the name xbox in it.. Ive been chatting with a friend about it and he suggest that we either remove it or ask for full premission as we are promoting their product and not de-facing it.

UPDATE:
ben says:
all you're doing is referring to what you do
you aren't marketing yourself as "XBOX"
forahobby says:
nope
forahobby says:
xbox-hq.com
ben says:
a trademark has to be "capable of distinguishing" - i think a "-HQ" means people know you arent referring to XBOX. You might need something in smallprint like this:
"XBOX is a registered trademark of Microsoft Corporation, who does not officially approve the xbox-hq.com web site in any way".
that sounds pretty convincing to me
that you've been open and honest and frank in the status of your site
forahobby says:
very true and simple
ben says:
Perhaps it could be put on the tag, so it doesnt ruin the design of the shirt
or, you could re-work the entire shirt around a "UNAUTHORISED" theme and milk the fact MS dont authorise you
for example
"UNAUTHORISED MODDER"
but you know your community culture,
to give another example, people writing Windows emulators for Linux couldnt say "VMWare for Windows" as they've used MS' trademark. Obviously MS cant stop something reasonable like that. So why the $%^$%^$ should they be able to stop reasonable use of a domain name?

How about an extra disclosure:
"No Microsoft Xbox's were harmed in the making of this site".
I think you should be fine as long as you put the MS is a blah blah blah of the MS corp blah blah blah.. I have seen tons of sites doing the same thing.
Have you noticed though, that with most corporations/companies you can usually find a www.companynamesucks.com like paypalsucks.com etc.. etc...
I think MS bought up those URLs long ago...lol.

You sure, ppl like you practiclaly rape them, putting in modchips, hdds, leds etc. (hehe).
The only true way the xbox can be unharmed is with a softmod, that way it's still not even opened if you stick with the stock hdd.
(I know yous all know this, just being a smartass, hehe)

Just so I'm clear, what exactly do I need to change now? I'm a little confused as to actually what I should change.
Do I need to add some kind of disclosure?
Scrape the xbox-hq.com?
Let me know and I'll rework it in nice, I promise, haha _________________ XBOX v1.6c

Hey,
We need to add a disclaimer i believe.. We are not promoting that we are xbox but only what we do so we should be fine. Somewhere tiny on the back.. I might even ask the printer what they suggest. Even a small tag might be ok..
Ben is a very useful person when talking about legal matters.
Hes my boss actually.. hehe lol
He says as long as we acknowledge it somehow then we will be fine since we are a non-profit group..
anyway, just a matter of time now.. Im waiting on a proof in HI-RES of the new 3d HQ logo.. then off to the screenprinters..

Hey forahobby,
You never sent me the official logo to swap with the sample one I made the design with. Just pm or e-mail me the logo without "sample" all over it and I'll whip it out quick. Sorry for the mis-communication. _________________ XBOX v1.6c
