Hi, My xbox is soft modded. ATM, I can not get to any dashbords. I just get
a black screen with distortion across the top. Is there a bootable dvd that will allow me to restore my xbox to factory settings w/o having a modchip installed?

yikes..man...this is going to be hard...

try to see if you can softmod the xbox again so that you can ftp and recover or add the missing files..

I don't think there is a way for an unmodded xbox to be self-restored without a modchip or a softmod... maybe if you call ms and perhaps they can give you the code to reset the hdd.. Wink

There is a factory CD that I have seen for sale on ebay a few times. I am wondering if this CD has anything to do with that, but the problem is you still need a way to get the bugger to boot.

Seriously, the best way to do this is a mod chip.

If you have a sub 1.6 machine, then just get yourself a solderless mod chip and get your HD back to factory condition.

Then, remove the chip and redo your softmod.

Then sell off the mod chip if you only wish to have a softmodded Xbox. Say you spend 50.00 on a chip and solderless adapter and get 40.00 for it...that's probably worth the 10.00 to get your machine running again.
