Does anybody know if you can watch .avi or .mpeg files on a modded xbox?

Yup, use XBMC

Ok, Thanks for the advice, But. Do you have a link that I can get VBMC and once I download it can you tell me exactly how i set it up so that I can play .avi and .mpeg.

get the AID 1.01 disc, its got all the apps you will ever need. you just launch xbmc from the app menu of your dashboard and ftp in your movies off your pc or pop in a dvd burned as data with your movies on it and it will play them. i even found that it plays .ogm files. plays .divx too
