Made some good progrees today, installed DVD2XBox but it wont let me choose what drive to install it in. Keeps forcing me to a smaller drive. How do I fix this. And why are there so many drive letters

Well, this is why I suggested using an Autoinstaller.
First, an AI will prepare your HD after it formats it. You have many drive letters because there is more than one partition.
Here are the partions of a stock Xbox:
C (HD C Partition)
D (DVD Drive)
E (HD Partiont)
X
Y
Z (x, y, z HD partitions. DO NOT USE)
If you dont have the retail HD and have a larger one then depending on your bios and HD size you would also have a:
F partition
G partition.
With a stock HD you will put your games in E:/Games
With a larger HD you will put your games in F:/Games or G:/Games
If you dont have those folders, then you need to prepare the partition and add them.
I would think it would add itself though, but hard to say. I have never just FTP'd DVD2Xbox I have always used an AI.

FTP'd what all in one where??

reformatted the larger drive
What size HD? What did you use to reformat it.
Once you reformatted what was the breakdown of your partitions and how much storage do you have in each partition??
Quote:
did the xenium
Did what to the Xenium?? Flashed it?? If so, with what bios?

completed the AI install?? Okay, so you burned the .iso to a disk and booted the installer. How did you configure the install? What dashboard did you install, did you prepare the partitions after you formatted the partitions??
I am only able to put dvd2xbox in a small drive 4845mb??? What does this mean? If you install the applications you should be installing this to F drive if you have a large HD. You will install it on the E drive if you have the stock drive. If you have the stock HD then you are only going to have about 4.9 or less GB available on the E drive. If you select install to F drive you must have a larger HD, like 40GB, 80GB, 120GB. Just install ALL APPLICATIONS to F drive.
Once you are done, go into your evox settings and check your partitions. See how much space you have in each partition. Plus keep in mind when you run DVD2Xbox you can choose different partitions to store the games in. Once DVD2Xbox is launched, press the white button on your controller to allow you to activate certain drives. The press the white button to save your settings and go back to main menu.
Once you put a game in and press A to save you should get several choices of where to store the game.
E:/Games
F:/Games
G:/Games
F and G only with certain size HD and proper bios. Stock HD will ONLY give you E:/Games as a viable option.

WHen FTP'ing I can see other drives like F and G but dvd2xbox only allows me to select E. How do I adjust partition sizes According to AI my drives sizes are C214.02 mb free E has4869 F has 123.244 G has 25 does this sound right. Now that I realize I dont want Media Center as my dashboard how do I change it

When you have DVD3Xbox open, please press the white button.
You will see it say Enable F Drive = No
Press the A button to say yes. Then, press the white button again.
Now try. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

Hey Modgod
I had been reading this post and decided to install the 4983 bios along with the M8 and M$.
I was reading about the boot sequence and that it runs " auto search for avalaunch.xbe THEN evoxdash.xbe THEN mxmdash.xbe THEN nexgen.xbe and THEN it will load xboxdash.xbe if neither of the previous 4 are found (in that order)".
Do you know, does it search the C drive only by default? _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

Off hand I would not be 100% sure. I would assume yes though.

ModGod, thanks for all your help I am up and running now. Earlier in this thread you wrote if I insist on using M8 then download this one. I really dont know what the difference between the 2 are so if you could shed some light on the differences I'd appreciate it. When I loaded Xecuter bios the sound would cutoff at the XBOX opening screen is that normal. That was why I was choosing M8.

Hey peekay23. I can help with that. There basically are two versions of the M8, one that runs v1.0-1.5 boxes and another that runs 1.6 and might even be so specific that it's different for the 1.6a and 1.6b. I was running (and still have in bank 2) the M8 without an issue. Based on this thread I also installed the X2 4983 bios, which I had never used before. The first time I ran it, it canned the flubber screen (the one with all the noise and the green X before a dashboard appears). I suspect that it's supposed to do that and after running the Xbox for an extended period of time, it appears to have zero ill effects. It's a very cool bios and with editing (which I am looking in to now) you can have diff 4983's that when selected will boot different dashboards. Ol Modgod was right. I insisted on the M8 too, but I've got to admit, this bios is a winner. When you get more comfy with modding, I have a link that shows you what each bios does and you would see why his choice was superior to mine. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

Well, if you are up and running I also have another motto...if it aint broke...don't fix it
The M8 bios that I uploaded is a known working/good bios. That was the only reason I was suggesting it to you. I wanted to make sure I ruled out everything I could since you were having issues.
I also have different versions of M8 Bios that have more stable IGR functions, or less stable but faster IGR functions. I have M8 bios that have faster fan speeds in the event you have a larger HD.
I have M8 bios that change the color of your eject button so it's red all the time, or orange all the time. Stuff like that.

Oh man... I am trying to confirm what I read in another forum that the Xecuter2 4983 Bios is not editable? Is that accurate? It's the same forum we've met in before Modgod. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

Do you mean the option isnt there or you get an error?
If option isnt there, just go to launch items, add new item, TSOP, then you are done after you name it and assign LED.

I have never tried that one, but I would try it using XBtool. I think that is the correct app to use. I'll have to check. The only bios app I ever played with was EVTool and that is only for the EvoX bios
