Well, after the overlaquer problem with the first box my friend had he aquired another 1.6 that had no laquer problems and the chip installed fine. The Cromwell Bios came up and gave the option to flash the chip from the CD-RW that I placed the Xecuter2 4983, 256k version bios onto. I know that the bios file is fine cause I used it when installing my Xenium and all went well with it. I followed the Spider Flash intructions and the progress bar came up showing the flash from the CDRW. When the unit restarted I got FRAG! After that everytime I reboot I get FRAG. When I turn the chip off its alright but I cant get the chip to boot the Xecuter bios nor bring back up the Cromwell (although I assume it was overwritten from the Xecuter bios). Anyway does anyone know how to relaod any bios back into the chip? Iread a post about a guy who had the same problem but didnt have answers from his post. I would appriciate any help anyone can offer, thanks.

Heya
If you have a 1.6 then the bios you used will give a frag, you can use the M8 bios only, no xecuter 2 bios's will work im afraid.
I have never had to try and rescue a spiderchip so im not sure whether you can just insert a cd with m8 as the bios.
Depends if the Xecuter 2 has the BFM (boot from media) flag I guess

thanks custom-xmodz,
after reading your post I did more searching around the net for info on this. One person said that he put the chip in an older machine and it booted and he reflased the chip. So I put the chip in my 1.0 box and the chip booted the Xecuter 2 fine, I put the M8 bios on a CD and tried to reflash the chip in the evox dashboard but it just doesnt do anything. I guess I cant flash the chip cause the bios is active? Can I reflash the chip booting with the auto evox installer? Thanks.

I tried to load in thru the Evox Dashboard and even tried thru the Evox auto installer from this site. I dont get any errors, I just choose to flash the chip and it flashes finished and nothing happens after that. Im not sure what the procedure is to do this on a Spider Chip. On the Xenium I have the Xeniums OS comes up to allow me to do a reflash but the original Cromwell bios that came on the Spider chip is gone so the option to flash never comes up again.

Is there any type of recovery switch on this chip. So you can restore it to factory condition??
I have never installed the chip, so just thought I'd throw that out there.

Theres no recovery switch however there is a port to attach a programmer however it has not been released yet although i've read on other forums that people are using an xecuter programmer and using a special app to load other bioses onto the Spider chip. ModGod, thanks for the suggestion, if I find out anymore info on this i'll post them. Thanks.
