I`m not using the MS dash, and don`t want to boot into it so I can play dvd`s but DVDx region free player won`t let me use my remote to watch dvd discs.

Is there any way to correct this, or an alternative software I can use? I tried via XMBC but that just calls DVDx "dongle free".

I`ve also tried googling for some answers but they didn`t help Sad

Thanks.

Dave

It`s quiet here today Wink

I found a tutorial and altered my evox.ini file so if I choose to play media from the dvd drive my original msdash player (but not the dash itself) is used which uses my remote.

Also kept an option so if I just choose region free dvd player dvdx is launched Smile

Hi mate,

Sorry i couldnt get back to you soon..
Yes DVDX doesnt support remote control unfortunately..

I get emails all the time asking how to fix this..

Sounds like you have the best solution there at the moment.
Unless you use XBMC to play dvd's.. Someitmes the menu's and special features dont work though..

cheers,

How do you get XMBC to play the DVD then? On my xbox it launches DVDx but I`d like it to launch the msdash one to use my remote - didn`t see a setting to change it, I assume that there is a config file I can edit so may look into that.

I`m thinking of getting a wireless joypad, then could use dvdx anyway Smile

Quick question - you said you get a lot of emails about dvdx and remote support, would that mean you actually write the program itself?

Just curious as it`s a really good program and if so - thanks Exclamation

Dave

I dont think you can get XBMC to automatically launch but i could be wrong.. I use a wireless joystick like you mentoined and its a great way to go.. Logitech all the way.. hehe Smile

I now have XBMC as my main DASHBOARD and can use the DVD REMOTE to scroll through my folders and play mp3, video, pics etc etc
