I have a brand new crystal xbox modded with the xecuter 2.6 chip and the Bios is the Evox M8 V16 06.

I have tried lots of cdr and dvd-r and +r and +rw brands to no avail, I have one brand that works perfect when I put my dvd videos on them in the xbox but when I put any data on them it just shows up on the dash as saying the disc in drive d is "unknown".

Doesn`t this mean that it IS being seen as a disc, and if so any ideas what I can do as otherwise I am stuck with a modded xboz that I can`t burn copies or homebrew for Sad

Thanks, and yes I am new to the xbox scene.

Dave

You must use a tool like xISO or CXboxTool 2 to convert the xbox game files to the xbox's file system (XDFS) an ISO file that you can then use Nero to "Burn Image.." which will burn the files to the DVD in XDFS format

I found Craxtion which lets me do it, and it even lets me use the cd brands the xbox wasn`t recognising before.

I can get the discs without games working by copying a .xbe file to the disc as then craxtion allows me to make a game iso and it recognises it but of course then thinks it is a game.

I`ll look for the tools you recommend, thanks again for the help. I`ve literally just got my xbox today and it`s amazing what they can do, the homebrew scene seems really active like that of the dreamcast was.

I have other things I`m trying to figure out like installing and uninstalling sofwtare but I will search the forums some more as don`t want to ask questions every five minutes Smile

Definitely beats the PS2 Exclamation

apps are pretty easy, you just FTP them into your F:\apps\ folder & they are auto detected by evox ...or you can edit your evox.ini to make the menu any way you want

There are some great emulator programs to download too...they go right in your emulator folder...letting you play arcade, PS, Dreamcast, Gameboy & a bunch of other consoles games

XBMC was & probably still is my favorite tool.

Supposedly my box can be used as a FTP server (smartxx chip), I am not sure what chip you got, but I havent got a chance to fiddle with taht yet

So I`d have to connect my xbox to the pc to do that? Perhaps I can put the files on the hd using a HD manager, will look into that - thanks Smile

yea if you have a large hdd in your xbox its alot easier to just FTP games onto the hdd than trying to burn games. Quix and/or SmartFTP have taken care of all my needs

I can`t afford to add a bigger hard drive yet but to be honest I mainly use it for watching divx, playing games from dvd and things. Blank dvd`s are very cheap so may not get one - as I understand it a bigger hard drive is only really handy if you plan to store games and roms and things?

That said I could store my mame roms, thing is I am new to xbox and starting with a new hd and figuring out the dash and things sounds a bit out of my league at the moment Embarassed
