Yep runs on XP fine. Run on any MS version going back to DOS actualy Very Happy Its a 16-32bit CMD app so is MS compatable across the board (havet tried it on 8 but I see no reason it wouldnt work on it too). You can also just use the files in it to manualy make your image. If you want to go that route I can make a vid showing you how to do it. And you actualy shouldnt even need to use XBMC Installer to backup your eeprom. Look on E drive for it, any gamesave softmod that isnt a complete piece of shit requires the eeprom to be backed up before modding so you should already have it on the HDD.

Hi SPPV,

Well, I figured this might not be easy. I'll explain in steps what I just did for the last half hour. A summary of what happened is at the bottom, if you think most of the intermediate steps were insignificant. Since XBMC installer's disk can remove softmod files, I thought I'd try playing around with stuff and see what I could do. I put a star around steps that seemed important

**1.) Booted XBMC installer dvd, clicked on SPPV XBMC Installer->EEPROM Backup

Got a box saying

"Error"

"Unable to launch "D:\Files\EEPROM\evox.xbe"

"File does not exists."

Then I clicked OK.

Then the 2nd box said:

"Failure"

"Batch process failed."

"The last item was:

Action: D:\Files\EEPROM\evox.xbe"

Then I clicked ok.

2.) Under "EEPROM Backup" in SPPV XBMC Installer->EEPROM Backup

I clicked "Create M$ Backup"

It then made a backup (and yes I know this was totally unnecessary since your Autobuilder disk has virgin M$ files)

3.) I then used file manager to look in E\Backup and found "MS". I then deleted it. Went back to:

SPPV XBMC Installer->EEPROM Backup

4.) Clicked "Create M$ Backup" again just to see if the one I deleted was the same one. After check the same location in file manager, it was there again, then I deleted it again.

5.) I tried to FTP into my console using the Filezilla but had no luck. Out of frustration I decided trying to load evox or unleash x to see if FTP might work on those dashbaords rather than this unleash X control panel I posted a pic of earlier in the thread. FTPing into xbox with those dashboards on did not work either.

**6.) In the old UnleashX control Panel, I decided to hit "MS backup" and "Mod Backup" to see what would be there on in my E\Backup folder.

I saw two files "Mod" and "MS"

I then went started back at SPPV XBMC Installer->EEPROM Backup and made another M$ backup.

Going back to E:\Backup there was still only one "MS" file with this so-called "Mod" file"

7.) I tried clicking around file manager until it put me in evox dash. I then clicked on "Backup EEPROM" with the smily face showing up, then "Move EEPROM to E"

8.) When I went to the E\Backup no "EEPROM.bin" file was present, only the "Mod" and "MS" file backups were present.

9.) I then went to the Dashboards section of XBMC Installer and when I clicked "UnleashX-softmod" it actually installed it.

Now my xbox boots to UnleashX instead of whatever outdated control panel that made the "MS" and "Mod" backups.

That might have been a bad idea, but maybe you can help me undo that.

**10.) I did actually find some EEPROM files, but they weren't under E drives backup section. Instead I found them in:

E:\TDATA\080299ff with a file called "eeprom.bin" and
"EEPROM_Backup.bin" present. But I don't think they are the ones I need to FTP over.

To summarize everything:

The EEPROM backup menu option in XBMC installer did not seem to work for me. Whatever EEPROM files are around are not in the backup folder of the E drive.

My xbox now boots up to UnleashX instead of the ancient UnleashX control panel that came with the old 3rd party memory card I bought.

I'm not sure what I need to do at all right now :/

Any troubleshooting help you can provide would be appreciated.

Thanks again for your patience with all my crap :p

Only thing I can think of for the eeprom failure is a disc read error/data corruption. The ERROR No Evox, then it boots seems very weird. The dash install is fine no worries there. Pop the disc back in and hit Re-Do Softmod or ShadowC UneashX. (ShadowC is best) then when its done and youve rebooted the XBOX look in settings and you will see an entry "Boot Softmod Menu" click on it and go to backup/restore features and click on eeprom backup. then hit move eeprom to E.

The file you found in UDATA is most likely the legit eeprom since thats normaly where softmods will put it (same directory as where the evox bakup is launched from) But just to be sure do lke I said above.

Also for FTP issues pop in XBMC Installer run it then try to FTP.

Hi SPPV

Popped in the xbmc installer disk, hit ShadowC-UnleashX and let it install. When it finished I let it shutdown my xbox.

( I'm still confused about Shadow-C after reading your other posts

1.) What's the difference between hitting the re-do softmod option instead of the ShadowC option in XBMC installer? Why did you suggest I do ShadowC instead of re-do softmod?

2.) What is ShadowC exactly? Is it a completely different type of softmod compared to an SID/AID install of XBMC? )

I rebooted my xbox, took out the XBMC disk. The xbox booted to unleashx.
I went to settings, hit boot softmod menu, where it took me to SID.

I went to backup restore features, backed up EEPROM and moved it to the E drive.

I then went to the network settings in SID, set the IP as DHCP.

I went to Filezilla, FTP'd into my xbox (SUCCESS!) went to E\Backup then grabbed the eeprom.bin file and put it on my mac desktop.

I then then opened up my flash drive (for transfering xboxhdm to my xp laptop) went to xboxhdm\linux\eeprom and copied the eeprom.bin file from my xbox into it.

So now the xboxhdm\EEPROM folder has my eeprom.bin file!

But the C and E folders in xboxhdm are still empty. You mentioned the autobuilder disk already has virgin M$ C and E files. Should I not worry about my xboxhdm's 'C' and 'E' folders being empty?

Before I proceed to make the linux iso on a CD-R with autobuilder I should make sure I understand exactly what it does.

You're saying that autobuilder will install all retro console and arcade emulators plus the games released with each console and arcade system? (e.g. an N64 emulator with all N64 titles and Atari arcade with all Atari arcade games).

I saw an XBMC tutorial video:

His xbox's emus would show a video preview of each game within the emu, and a pdf scan of the video game user's manual. In addition it showed what each button on the xbox controller did in the game.

Does autobuilder's emus provide those same features?

Also does autobuilder also put DVD2XBOX, XBOX partioner, and Donglefreedvd on my hard drive? If so does it put them in the E drive somewhere (e.g. in the E:\Apps folder)?

I know that if I did the old SID + AID option, I would need to use xbox partioner to maximize the amount of space on the 320GB HDD. Will I still need to do with XBMC? or does autobuilder provide optimal hard drive space on it's own when I use the linux iso it creates?

Also does autobuilder's install of XBMC put in the version that works for HD t.v.s and regular t.v.s? I would like to use an XBMC version that work with both types of televisions.

Thanks again

Dont worry about C and E being empty theyre supposed to be. It puts the files in the Pimped folder and when you run XBOXHDM and pick build HDD from scratch it will look to the Pimped folder. Yes the emus I include offer video previews of the games. But if you are using a CD-r they wont fit, you need to use a DVD-r to install them and the various apps like DVD2XBOX. Yup the version of XBMC supports HD. Its the latest stable build (3.2) Same as the one on the XBMC Installer disc (minus all the skins and plugins)

I said to use ShadowC because it will protect your softmod. You never have to worry about some shitty mod getting installed by accident like before. It locks the real C drive away and implements my ShadowC Security function so the only way to get access to it is with the XBMC Installer disc (hit disable shadowc) and when the disc is removed it will automaticaly relock the C drive

The softmod is identical to the re-do function it just has the scurity features I mentioned above

If you have to use a CD-r you can use my Emu Installers and Xtras Installers to get all the fancy stuff after the build. Those are just my friend Madmabs emus in the vid and the Xtras packs put together by Rx.

To get full use of the HDD the easy way I recomend picking UnleashX as dash (it will install XBMC as app by default) Then when youve put the new HDD in your XBOX go into setings-Storage and make sure G is enabled then use the format function to format G. All done.

Hi SPPV,

Sounds good. I will go ahead and use the autobuilder program on xp with xboxhdm's folder on the root of the C drive (C:drive) so that autobuilder will put the iso together for me!

For those wanting to switch to a bigger HDD (which is originally blank?
Could I follow other tutorials for using the linux cd to copy my factory xbox drives contents to the new hdd?

Such as this link for example:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlF8UDedjYc
where he starts doing copying the drives contents at 11:!4 in the video

Your autobuilder link says to do different things depending on whether my drive is locked. I just bought it from amazon new so I don't think it is locked in the first place, but I don't know how to check.

Edit: I downloaded the 5.1 update, but here's the problem. My xp's C:drive has a folder called "Program Files" not "Files" like on windows 7. Will that be a problem? Does it need to get renamed to "Files" instead? Also I have the AutoBuilder1.1.exe file, but there is no "AutoBuilderv5" program file folder that came with the download in the link you gave. Where can I get the AutoBuilderv5 folder? The "Extract and put in Files folder" folder has only .exe files. Was I expected to go into my program files folder, just make up a folder in C:drive\Program Files and make up a folder called "AutoBuilderv5" to dump all the dash .exe files into?

Can I also install multiple dashboards besides XBMC just for fun? If that complicates things too much than forget it.

Thanks again

You just grabbed the update to 5.1 pack, you only use that if you already have V5. The full program is listed at the bottom of the topic I linked you to. Thres 3 optios for download. FTP here, FTP at Xtras or torrent at UG. Thats why you dont have the files and xboxhdm folders. You will need those and need to use the xboxhdm I included. Its been modified to work with Autobuilder and look to the Pimped folder when building the HDD.

You can use the xboxHDM you have to clone the 8GB drive in your XBOX. Put the eeprom in the eeprom folder and click make iso win, burn the iso to disc. Hook the 8GB up to your PC on the Primary IDE channel. Put in the disc and boot it. Pick option 3 and when Linux Locking Tools boots type unlockhd -a
When it says command completed succesfully turn off the PC. Hook the new HDD up to the Primry IDE channel as Master, set the old drie to Slave and hook it up on te same channel and turn the PC back on. Pick option 1 then pick Clone HDD. When its done reboot and pick option 3 again. This time type lockhd -a when it asks if you are sure type y and hit enter. When it says command completed succesfuly turn off the PC and put the new HDD in the XBOX. Go into settings enable G and format.

Hi SPPV,

Why exactly do I need to have both the 8GB and 320GB hooked up to the tower?

Don't I simply take an old tower, disconnect any other hard drives in there, hook up the 320GB to the secondary slave clip in the middle of the ribbon wire (with the system end of the ribbon cable in the motherboard already), boot the linux DVD-R, then select build a new hard drive from scratch and proceed from there?

Edit: I just added you on skype. Perhaps we could chat there. Or if you prefer xbox hq. I can keep asking questions here.

Edit: Your last comment wasn't that hard to understand, I was just multitasking then. I'll give it a try tomorrow. Thanks again Smile

Hi SPPV,

Sorry about sounding frustrated yesterday, I usually like to research stuff before I do it. I was used to the old SID + AID method. But it's a little tedious because it installs an old XBMC app, which means I'll need to FTP emus and an updated XBMC dash anyways.

I appreciate the suggestion to use autobuilder v5.1, I just wasn't sure how to use it until I read your documentation elsewhere to get a feel for it.

Here's my problem right now:

My xp can't file share by ethernet or connect to the internet. I had to use a ~1 GB flash drive to transfer all the files from the autobuilderv5 folder on my mac to the xp computer a GB at a time :/

There is definitely a possibility that just one copied folder name has an extra space in it, but all the files appear to now be on my xp.

I then brought over the v5.1 update folder, unzipped both the folders. Took the all the exe files in the "Extract me and put in Files folder" and replaced the ones in the original v5 "Files" folder.

I then took the xboxhdm folder from your autobuild v5 folder, put my eeprom.bin file in the C:\xboxhdm\linux\eeprom folder

I then moved "Files" folder to the root of my C:drive with "xboxhdm" as well.

I then moved the new version of "AutoBuilder1.1.exe" from the "update to 5.1" folder and put it on the desktop of my xp computer.

This is what I did:

I try to run the "AutoBuilder1.1.exe" on my desktop.

It asks what type of mod I'm using. I hit '2' for Shadow-C. But instead of prompting me to choose which dash I want, it simply says "C:\Documents and Settings\Ben\Desktop>xcopy C:\Files\UNX C:\xboxhdm\linux\pimped\E /W /E /H /I"

then says "Press any key to begin copying file(s)"

I want to install UnleashX as my dash (assuming it still puts in XBMC as an app like you mentioned before). Maybe I am missing a file? Something doesn't seem right.

When I tried re-running the program by typing '1' for "Chip/TSOP" it does prompt me to pick which dash I want.

When I tried re-running the program by typing '3' for "Regular Softmod," it then says "Overwrite C:\xboxhdm\linux\pimped\E\backup\MS\XBox Book.xtf (Yes/No/All)?

Is there anything else I can tell you to help me troubleshoot?

Thanks again

Hey SPPV I don't know if the site notified you of my previous two posts,

I got a bigger flash drive so I could move over all the contents of the "AutoBuilder V5.1" folder to my xp as a whole.

I put the "Files" folder on C:\ and put the xboxhdm folder within the Autobuilder 5.1 folder on C:\ as well. I made sure to use your version of xboxhdm's folder and not one I found elsewhere.

I put the eeprom.bin file FTP'd from my xbox into the C:\xboxhdm\linux\eeprom folder as specified.

I ran the "autobuilder 1.1.exe" but I don't know if it's working properly.

Here's what happened:

It asks what type of mod I used. I hit '2' for Shadow-C. Rather than prompt me to choose a dash, it says "C:\Documents and Settings\Ben\Desktop>xcopy C:\Files\UNX C:\xboxhdm\linux\pimped\E /W /E /H /I"

then says "Press any key to begin copying file(s)"

I want to install UnleashX as my dash (since you said it still puts in XBMC as an app by default).

Is there something I am doing wrong or am I safe to just hit '2' Shadow C mod and then hit any key to let autobuilder do its thing

Thanks again

Just hit 2. Like it says in the read me ShadowC installs UnleashX. And if you downloaded the full 5.1 throw the update pack in the trash. Like I said before its to update from 5 to 5.1. Kinda hard to update 5.1 to 5.1 lol

Can you go on skype right now and chat with me for ~10min?

I'm getting prompts to say yes/no to every single file the .exe wants to put in the pimped folder.

The video you had on youtube only asked about 2-3 questions before it did its thing. Or maybe I just have to hit 'y' dozens of times.

I just want to make sure the linux iso I'm about to make isn't corrupt when I put its contents on a blank hdd. And it's always a safe bet to assume I might be making a mistake.

Thanks again

Its asking for overwrite permission because youve already ran it so there are files in the Pimped folder. Open xboxhdm\Linux\Pimped and delete everything from the C and E folders. And delete any ISO in the xboxhdm directory its already made

Yup you were right, a previous run made some files in E of the xboxhdm folder. I deleted them all. Now it only prompts me if I want apps/emus and press any key to begin.

There could have been a mistake during file copying.

I was watching the terminal and I noticed it said it transfered a ".DS store" file which is a proprietary hidden mac file that I would not have normally seen when bringing over the autobuilder files that I FTP'd to my mac from emuxtras then transferred by flash drive to my mac.

Should I restart the process after deleting whatever ".DS store" are in those folders? I'm willing to bet your code would not have anticipated their being a ".DS store" file sitting in the "Files" folder of the C:drive....

Hi SPPV!

I finally was able to get autobuilder to work on my xp.

The problem I was having was that I downloaded the autobuilder file using my mac, then transferred the program to my xp by flash drive.

The problem with that is xp can see the hidden '.DS_Store' files now, so when your program ran it copied those mac files to the ISO!

To play it safe, I found a way to unhide those files on xp, then deleted them with xp. If any mac users transfer the autobuilder program from a mac to a pc, make sure to tell them to delete any hidden mac files that pop in any of the autobuilder folders while viewing them in windows.

Anyways, I've got the Iso, it's ~3GB. Here are my questions:

I saw when xboxhdm's code was launch using your .exe file, just before it shows the percents it says, 'size of boot image is 4 sectors -> No emulation.' This seemed odd to me, but your Autobuilder 5.1 Chip Build video also chose to add emus to the iso and the same message popped up when using xboxhdm, so I assume in my case there is nothing to worry about.

Some other questions:
1.) Is there any way for me to check whether the .iso image is proper and that there is nothing wrong with it before burning to a dvd-r?

If not, in case something wrong with the hard drive when using the xboxhdm program, to delete everything on the originally blank hard drive and start over?

P.S. I tried sending a chat message to your on skype and a pm on xbox-hq, but I didn't see any responses from you. I assumed you were busy, which is why I posted here and so you can respond on your own time.

Thanks again
