Hi I bought an old memory card that (by chance!) that had the UnleashX/EvoX installer with a splinter cell exploit.
I was playing around with the menu to see what was on there.
I accidentally hit the "Install Softmod button" and it immediately put something on my C drive it said. Then the loading bar disappeared quickly.
That would probably explain the "evoxdash.xbe" file sitting on my C drive.
How can I use the file manager on this UnleashX control panel to get rid of any softmod files so that I may proceed with the SID softmod?
I have photos of my t.v. of various folders and settings to help narrow down the problem.
Thanks
P.S. sorry about the static from my tv on the photos.
Edit: Sorry about the photo orientation. They were tilting to the left before, now they tilt to the right when I tried to do the opposite in anticipation of that.

XBMC Installer3.2.2 . Burn it to disc pop it in and hit return to stock. That will format the C drive removing any softmod. If you want stuff gone on E use its filemanager to manualy delete it.
Option2
If you want the xbox to be softmodded hit RE-DO Softod intead of return to stock. That will nuke the previous mod and install SID5.12. If you want a different dash just use the dashboard section of the disc to install UnleashX, Evox or XBMC

Hey SPPV I screwed up a little bit....
I was trying to navigate around on the unleash X control panel and accidentally hit "install softmod." I still had that evoxdash.xbe file sitting my C drive.
Now my xbox boots up to the Unleash X control panel by default, but NOT the Unleash X dash.
So I can still see the UnleashX control panel that says "Install softmod" "backup MS," dash etc. I had not made backups of my xbox factory files before hitting the "install softmod" option.
[Yes I know a very bad boo boo on my part...]. But since I'm in the Unleash X control panel, I'm still given the option to make backups of C drive and eeprom. Should I make the backups now then to save myself from anymore trouble?
Will the XBMC 3.2.2 installer still be able to get rid of all these files and get me back to my regular MS dash? That way I can install SID 5.1.1. on a clean xbox.
Also media fire took down your XBMC installer 3.2.2. Google search just gave links to the same mediafire site removed download. Is there someone else where I can ask about the "usual places" that host the installer download? (since xbox-hq doesn't like people linking to such files here.)
Thanks again

XBMC Installer is still on mediafire but some retard decided it must be viral. I dont know why other than the dumbass didnt recognise the file names being as its for XBOX and decided "hey Im a retard I dont know what an xbe is must be a virus"
You can get all my installers from my folder on the www.emuxtrs.net FTP, just ask Wimpy for access, I also put them here on the USA VIP server and many an be obtained via torrent at www.underground-gamer.com
If you dont have a UG account just let me know and I will set you up. Just be aware its a private site that enforces ratio so be careful what you download. I can give some upload cred so you can grab some stuff to get started.
And if you want it softmodded just use the Re-Do Softmod option. Much easier than returning it to stock then installing a softmod via gamesave/splinter cell. It will nuke the previous mod and install SID5.12. If you get an error at the end dont worry thats a security feature, if it finds an eeprom backup it refuses to overwrite it. But its at the end of the install so all softmod files are copied and it works 100%

Hi SPPV,
Thanks so much for your help. I really do appreciate all your advice and assistance the past month.
I have a few questions:
Can XBMC installer 3.2.2 iso burned onto a CD-RW or a DVD-R can just play on an unmodded xbox? Or would the console already need to have been slightly softmodded as mine had for the disk to play?
I tried going to UG after reading a post of yours elsewhere saying it would be there.
The site said its membership was full when I tried to register. I understand private trackers require members upload and seed a lot of stuff. If you have some dummy torrents that I can seed that aren't illegal, I would feel comfortable with that. Would my bit torrent client have to be on all the time to stay a member of UG? I like to let my computer shut down occasionally.
I would also like to become a VIP member of this site. You guys know a lot about xbox softmodding. I'd love to learn about all the little details. That way I can practice making my own changes to my console, but would know enough by then to be able to revert my changes safely
If I send a donation to paypal and become a member, I would like to ask a lot more questions in the VIP support forum. Are you the only remaining moderator or admin of this site? Or do the others simply check 360-hq more often?
Sorry for the long post :p

The XBMC installer disk will only work on a Xbox that has already been modded (softmod or hardmod). If you put the disk into an unmodded Xbox, nothing will happen because an unmodded Xbox won't boot disks that aren't signed by Microsoft.
With Underground Gamer, you don't have to be on 24/7. You just have to visit once every 3 months and make sure to have a good ratio. SPPV sent me an invite a while ago and it's a cool site. _________________

If I join as a VIP member will I get responses from you guys more quickly, besides just getting access to downloads and private tracker?
If I become a lifetime member can you guys guarantee the site won't close down for the next few years?
I'd love to learn more about the xbox's computer architecture too, if SPPV or another moderator on the site has time to explain in the VIP forums.
Thanks again

I treat everybody the same regular member or VIP. The main benefit of VIP is access to the FTP servers. Much of what the staff have written over the years is only available on the FTP server. My installers for example are to large for our direct download so are only on the FTP. I host them in other locations as well so those who cant afford VIP can still get them.
VIP also goes across the board for all our sites 360hq, PChq etc 1 membership for all. The more people who do join as VIP the more likely hood of survivabilty and less the sites have to depend on ads to pay the bills. The UG tracker is totaly seperate from us and not affiliated with Hq. I just happen to be friends with some of the staff so have n obscene amount of invites and upload cred I can give to users to get acess to whats there.
As for the site being around for the forseeable future far as I know Hobbs has no intention of shutting down but only he can say for sure.
If you want a UG account PM me the email you want to use and I will send you an invite (must be used within 24hrs)

Hi SPPV,
That's nice you're willing to lend your knowledge to modders who are new to the scene even if they're not VIP members.
Let me ask you this:
If you respond to VIP and Non-Vip members at the same rate, do the other admins or mods respond to questions more in the VIP support or chatrooms?
I figured that if I were a VIP member maybe you or other mods would be more willing teach me the art of softmodding heck even hardmods if i found the time

I think all the staff here would agree (and can be seen by browsing the forums) Im the most active member and do the majority of the support. Especialy when it comes to softmods since thats my neck of the woods so to speak. Its not that other staff dont want to help or cant help, just more a matter of Im always pushing the envelope for new stuff and when it comes to apps for the XBOX Im probably the most active developer around. Most of the focus for the other devs is on emulators, XBMC nd frontends like CoinOps and Vision(a Hyperspin-XBMC hybrid)
That said we do have other great staff here with there areas of expertise. Prehistoricman is pretty knowlegable when it comes to chips, Darth is pretty good with our previous installers like AID and SID5-5.11
And also to be fair cosidering the fact thst our current round of istallers like XBMC Installer, AutoBuider, SID5.12 and converters like XMV2WMV were writen by me the other staff will defer support to me since whos gonna know em better
As for VIP vs Regular, no staff here will say "oh hes a regular member Im just gonna et him spin for a while" We dont operate like that.If we acted like that our sites would basicaly just be a shell game to suck people into donating. We dont want people to donate cause they think it will get them special treatment, but rather because they like what we have to offer and want to see the friendliest XBOX site stay alive. Its the same with my friends over at Xtras. Whether you donate or are a dev or someone who contibutes to the various projects is inconsequential. All we care about is making people feel welcome, providing the best support we can and access to the latest apps and emus.
Excuse the UN speech I'll shut up now

Hi SPPV thanks for the invite to UG! I found the XBC 3.2.2 Installer on there, burnt its iso onto a DVD-R with mac disk utility and it worked on the xbox right away!
Here's what I would like to do with it.
1.) Remove whatever softmod files I accidently put on there.
2.) Have it load SID 5.something.
3.) Make an MS backup
4.) Backup EEPROM (and move it to E drive like I have seen other dsoftmod tutorials do)
5.) FTP to my computer and put the C, E and EEPROM files in my XBOXHDM folder.
6.)Make that Linux iso with xboxhdm and copy the EEPROM and MS files to a 320GB IDE(pata) Western Digital Hard drive to replace the factory HDD.
7.Use the AID disk to install XBMC as my dash. Then download emulators online to put in XBMC and backup my xbox game disks with DVD2XBOX.
This probably all sounds convoluted to you, since XBMC installer's disk is supposed to install XBMC anyways :p
But it's my first time doing this and the tutorial video I found on youtube was simple to follow and copy, even thought my knowledge is more extensive than the video is
My question to you is whether XBMC installer 3.2.2 can really remove ALL the softmod files I accidentally created and startup SID?
Also why do you recommend having UnleashX as the default dash with XBMC as an app? Is there a particular aesthetic reason for why you prefer that, or does it offer something XBMC's dash cannot do?
Thanks again
Sorry for the verbose post :p
P.S. I love what you guys do at XBOX-HQ I'll see what I can do to send a donation within the next few weeks

It most certainly can remove the softmod. All softmods get installed to C partition. XBMC Installer will format C then install SID5.12 when you hit Re-Do Softmod.
Although you can skip a lot of steps to accomplish what you want and dont use AID for XBMC. It hasnt been updated in years.
The easy way to accomplish what you want is:
1)Turn on your XBOX and backup the eeprom and FTP it to your PC
2)Grab AutoBuilder5.1 and follow its instructions
End result:Your new HDD built with XBMC/Evox/Ava/UnleashX as dash. The latest emulators with ROMs installed and the new disc fully softmodded

Hi SPPV,
Do I need to make an EEPROM backup with XBMC installer before hitting re-softmod or should I make backups before then?
Does XBMC installer even offer the option to do an "MS backup" like SID?
I just want to make sure I can get all the necessary files into the 'C', 'E' and "EEPROM" folders of xboxhdmaker's folder for it to make the linux iso.

Xbmc installer doesn't require eeprom. And yes it can do ms backup. But unlike aid it does not create it from your hard drive but rather its contained on the installer disc. That way there's no worries if you don't have a virgin ms dash on your hdd or its been corrupted or modified.
But as I said do it the easy way. Just grab the eeprom then use autobuilder and make the new hdd. It does not require any backup files like c and e. Everything you need is contained in the program itself. Just put your eeprom in the eeprom folder click the exe and boom you have an xboxhdm upgrade disc with the latest softmod your choice of dashboard and if you want them the latest emus with the full xtras USA ROM set. Then just POP that hdd into your xbox and forget the Wimpy stock drive. Autobuilder does everything for you. It's the most noob friendly way to upgrade your hdd
If I had known you had the bigger hdd and were looking to upgrade I would have suggested the autobuilder method from the start

Since the autobuilder program is a windows one, it looks like I can't use my mac.
With SID and AID I only needed a windows xp or 7 to use the "make-linux win" bash command to make the linux iso of my xbox.
Since macs do run Unix underneath in their terminal you would think the make linux.ssh file would work, but maybe my mac can't recognize that shell script type.
Anyways can autobuilder be run on a 32-bit XP computer? I have one at home that I can install autobuilder on at home if needed.
Other than that I only have a mac osx 10.5.8, which can't run windows exe files on it's own.
The windows 7 computer I have access to at work won't let me install anything on the C:drive. Only a personal 500MB Y:drive. Autobuilder only looks for the xboxhdm folder in C, so that would mean I'm out of luck for using windows 7
If autobuilder can't run on xp, I might just need to simply use XBMC installer to backup EEPROM, the MS files then install SID and go from there.
