Hiya
I would'nt worry about heat, out of all the xbox's and hard drives I have sold, not one has ever had heat issues.
Personally I would go for the Maxtor, but thats my personal preference, i find them quieter.

I have installed Hitachi's, Madtor's, WD's, Seagate's, I just always find the one that is on sale or lower priced. As long as it's lockable that is all that matters.
I see no difference between 5400 and 7200 speeds...and as far as which one is quieter...hell, if you can hear the HD over gaming...you need to turn your damn volume up and enjoy the game...lol.
later all!

Someone needs to hide my card from me.
I just bought a Maxtor 250 GB 7200 RPM with 8 MB cache from Staples for $130.00. Not a bad deal (not a great one, either), but I'm not entirely sure I have the money in my account to cover it after the $75.00 I just spent on the XLCD and X3 Pro Switch.
Oh yeah, and the LED ring from RealMcCloy I ordered earlier today...
Good thing I'm getting a big bonus for being employee of the year at work... Now if I can just find a way out of getting Xmas gifts for everyone this year... And not pay my bills...

I was employee of the world 2 years running, but then I am the only employee ( i own the business)
I don't understand all this rebate stuff, in the uk you get a cheque back on some mobile phones after 6 months, is it like that?
How it work with hard drives tho? least with a phone they get line rental from you..

How a rebate works.
you pay full price for the item in the store and you get a rebate form to fill in and mail to manufacter or to the store HQ ( whoever the rebate is for) along with the UPC off the box of the item. 6 to 48 (Seems that long) you get a check in the mail for the rebate amount
How Day after Thanksgiving Sales Work: (IE busiest shopping day in the USA)
build up huge hype by offering limited supplies of items at heavily reduced prices. promote your sale in newspapers and television for atleast a month prior to sale. make people line up at the doors to get in when the store opens. laugh histaracly when the doors open and people wrestle $100 27" tv's from grandma's and nerds whip out knifes to settle who gets the last HDD.
its hell i tell ya. the line to check out was 45 minutes long. but my awesome girlfriend noticed about 6 people standing at the back of the store and found out they had another checkout opened up in the lay away department then off to the next store where they had 256 MB USB drives for $15. but alas by the time we were there they were sold out

You don't have Thanksgiving because your country was never raped by Injuns and eventually made peace with them in a deal that ended up screwing over the Injuns big-time.
Of course, you were raped by the French at one point, so I guess that's worse...

Okay, here's my secret to low priced mods...I get my HD's from newegg.com
200GB WD for only 103.00 and you never have to wait for a rebate.
250GB for under 132.50
They have always had the best prices without waiting for rebates.. I hate waiting for rebates
Later all
