okay so it's been a few years and I'm back working on an X-Box. I got an X-Box with a failed hard drive. I then threw a smartxx V3 in it and got it booted up. Now I'm stuck. I have another HDD to put in it but am unsure where to start. I have no old hard drive to copy for the files. If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. I got the V3 in and running, got the FTP bios installed and threw an evox bios on it but there's nothing for me to put on the HDD. I also have a backup of my old eeprom on cd if it still works. I say this because Windows 7 asked how I wanted to use the cd. I'm pretty sure my buddy has a copy from when he soft modded an old one.

If the new xbox is to be soft modded then use chimp and the old HDD to get the new HDD going. Wink

Hello,
Download a copy of AID : http://www.aidtracker.com/ Burn the image to DVD-r and use this to install whatever dashboard you fancy .... it`ll detect your new HDD, format it and set it up with your required apps and emus.

Ok, once you boot the AID disc installing stuff (Dashboards, Apps or Emulators) just takes the click of a button, Heres an example :

You have a hardmodded xbox
you want XBMC as your main dash
You have no need for xbox live

Insert the AID disc, scroll down to the `Dashboard section` click it then select `Install C drive dashboard` click it, then `Install XBMC` then select either `Retail HDD` , `Large HDD E + F` or `Larger HDD E + F + G` and the AID disc will do the rest ..... Once its finished, take disc out, reboot and XBMC will be your default dash ........ Its a lot easier when you boot the disc and see the options for yourself.
Theres a good manual for AID in the download that covers every option but if you get a bit stuck just post back about what you are unsure of.

Hey Buddy, thanks for the reply. My main unsure factor was when getting the new drive ready, you obviously install it onto a spare IDE slot in your PC yes and then install it back into the xbox once ready? I need the eeprom backup also in the e:drive on the disc, is that right? its only 1 file the eeprom?

cheers
