I woke up today and found that my modded xbox would no longer boot to XBMC... instead I just go the MS dash. I poked around and figured out how to create a boot disk with AID, and am now able to look at and ftp my HD... I really don't see any problems... all the files look ok... I'm wondering what to do next?
Should I:
- reinstall a dashboard with AID?
- back-up some file from my xbox's C drive?
- try to fix some files on my xbox's C drive?
Or, am I chasing my tail and is this problem being caused by some other problem?
I am but a humble n00b trying to preserve one of the greatest gifts the technology Gods ever bestowed on me... the modded xbox with XBMC
Thx much.

If you can boot AID to get an eeprom back up you should make that task one.
When you have the eeprom backup on your PC you can try a one click install with AID and you should be fine.

Ok, dumb question... how do I:
1. know if I have eeprom (I assume that's a mod chip), or a softmod?
2. how do I get the eeprom (if I have one) back-up?
What do these have to do with the xbox booting to the MS dash?
Thx,

If your xbox is softmodded it will already have an eeprom back up.
Does your box have a chip in it? _________________

Is there an easy way to tell if I have softmod or modchip?
Can I tell by looking at the files on my C drive... they are:
msxboxdash.xbe
nexgen.xbe
NEXGEN.XML
settings_adoc.xip
XBox Book.xtf
Xbox.xtf
xboxevox.xbe
evox.ini
xboxdash.log
xboxdash.xbe
I can crack it open, but don't want to screw it up
