Had a go a while back with the help of this site to softmod my crystal xbox.Got it softmodded but could to this day get the ftp thing working.I have noe got a wireless router so tried again but without any success.
I was reading every piece of info i could when i saw that SID 4 isnt very good with PAL region 2 xboxs.I prosume this means dvd.
I have used SID 4 on my xbox?
THe article said SID 4.5 should be used.
Is this true and why?
my server wont let me use pirate bey etc. so i cant download SID 4.5 from there,is there a safe site i can get it from?
I did notice that i cant display my ip address on the unl X screen page even though i have been through all that.
I know loads to take in but I've been at this for ages and getting nowhere fast.
cheers for any help.

Ok,
First of all, it won't matter that you've used SID 4 to mod the box, and it being PAL makes no difference. I live in the UK and have a PAL Xbox and have used SID 4 and newer to mod boxes with no problem at all.
Second, you don't need a router to connect to the Xbox. If you go direct from PC to Xbox, all you need is a crossover RJ45 ethernet cable. You can get them from Maplins, PC World, anywhere like that.
All you need then, is to know the IP of your Xbox (what dash do you have?) and an FTP program such as SmartFTP or FlashFXP to connect.

Ok, if you're pinging and you're getting timed out, it means either:
The IP address your putting in isn't right. Try changing it to something yourself, and make sure its in the same IP range as your PC.
The cable you're using is either the wrong one or is faulty.
A firewall or similar program is preventing communication.

I'll go buy another cable to make sure its not that.
If i'm pinging the xbox will the pc reconize it whatever the setting on the xbox or do they have to be all right?

I've done it!!!!!!!!!!!!
The problem I had was that the ip address on xbox wasn't near to the pc one.Alot of web sites said to put a certain ip address in xbox (192.168.0.2 I think)which was throwing it all out.
Anyways sorted now....Thanks for the help mate.
