Thx guys.

The best is the X-3 and the X-2 is cheaper but will do damn near all you will need it to do.

Thx for that but I already have this, but I need the EEPROM in order to make this work, as the error messages tells me with this program.

Hey, anyone know a good source to buy these from?

Also, I just googled these and it looks like these chips are going to be discontinued?

Hi there. I had the same problem when reading the eeprom.

With the two wires connected to the lpc and the earth to wherever you choose, read the chip about 3 or 4 times as fast as you can after each error message. You will get the error message a couple of times but by the 3rd or 4th read attempt you should get it. Remember if you don't see the xbox serial number in the right hand bank of numbers/symbols then you had a bad read. If unsuccessful power off and start again.

By the way if the mobo is working and you have a working xbox power supply then i would use it rather than the batteries.

Thx and I revised that awhile back. I am just going to look into buying a eeprom reader. Also, this is for a totally different xbox than the one I have posted in the hard drive upgrade" topics. That one only needs the Chimp program v1.6 etc.
