Hi all, I'm not the tech guy--that's the hubby--but I'd thought I'd look for an answer for him. We have an old XBOX that was modded with Avalaunch (which takes us to XMBC), which he did in 2004/5. It's always been wired into the network, but we just bought a house and moved it downstairs. We bought the MN 740 wireless adapter to connect to our network, but when I run the install disk it runs the same screen "Update complete. Starting Xbox Live," and stays frozen there. I can't get to the original XBOX dashboard.
I attempted to get the original dashboard through avalaunch--I went to the C drive and booted up xboxdash.xbe--which took me to the original dashboard, but when I go to setting --> network it freezes on the screen with the loading circle. If I put the install disk for the wireless, I get right back to the "Update complete. Starting XBOX live screen."
As you can see, I know just enough to b e dangerous (and perhaps mess everything up). Can you give me some help, so I can refer my husband to this thread?
Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the XBOX-HQ, we hope you enjoy this and all the other HQ sites we have to offer.
So it sounds like you can still get in to the mod dash (avalaunch) so you should be able to fire up the AID 4.3 disk and use it to reinstall the MS dash to fix the loop.
I just need to know that you can access the mod dash and if you used a virtual C or not when you installed the mod the first time.

I had the exact same problem, I got the Shits with the box and packed it away, came back to it about a week later (after it had been unpluged) and it had corrected it's self on reboot!!.
So give this a go it can't hurt.
