hi everyone sorry im such a noob but i git a xbox for ten bucks and all thats wrong is the hdd drive says by error code 06 that it timed out think its 1.4 version what i want too no is can i put a 1.6 version hdd in or does it have too be a 1.4 if so how do i make a working image or clone of a hdd that will work and is there any where i could get a image off the net ps i want too keep it stock no mod chips [/list]

you would have to l ock the HDD you are putting into it with the specific code on your Xbox's EEPRom. Which is a pain in the ass to do without a mod chip. Also with a mod chip you can run an unlocked hdd with no problems. _________________ XBOX v1.1

You need to chip the machine and buy an unlocked HD so you can marry the HD and mobo.
Basically, that HD you have is a paperweight right now. What someone probably did was try to mod their machine and failes so they bought a new motherboard. After installing, they got error 06 and gave up.
HD's and Mobos are like geese. Once they are married, they are together for life. If you chip the machine, you can unlock the HD and then use it on any machine. Or, you can take the eeprom from the old motherboard and install it on the current motherboard. That is where the password is to gain accesss to the HD that is in there now. My opinion it's just easier to chip the machine and get an unlocked HD. I have a couple on ebay right now and you can buy from my site or any of our sponsors may have.
