Hi All,
Finally decided to have another go at this XBox lark after a 6 month break.
Started the day by succesfully downloading the latest SVN from T3CH. Managed to get that FTP over to the XBox (that's a first by the way) and then launched it from E:\APPS\XBMC\default.xbe
I then spent a good bit of the day following the readme on T3CH trying to install the dashboard as my start up, before I realised that that was NOT for softmod, which is what I have. I then went to the link from T3CH for the softmods
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=406656
and couldn't get that to work either.
I don't understand why I have to load my XBMC in to the dashboard folder. As it is I'm confused about where XBMC is supposed to be. I have an XBMC folder on the root E:\ as well as one at E:\APPS
I have "default.xbe" all over the place ! at E:\APPS\XBMC, at E:\DASHBOARD and at E:\XBMC
Can somone PLS tell me where these things are SUPPOSED to be and how does the XBox start up, where does it look for what dashboard to load?

You need to make the short cu and tell it to look for the XBE file in th E:/apps/xbmc then put the short cut in the root E: drive.

As for the rest of the files cant say whare thay go since i cant see the drives.

Hi WES213,
I did as you suggested but it made no difference. I had a file there called evox????.xbe that I renamed thinking that this was stopping the shortcut working and now I have a message when I start my XBox "Your Box requires service. Please call customer support" Sounds terminal. What have I done Confused
Can't see the XBox at all now in SmartFTP by the way

You need to get a copy of aid auto installer deluxe 4.10 and unzip it, in the folder will be an iso file burn that to disc and try it.

Should that not work youll need to get xboxhdm and use it to repair the drive.

Im guessing your not makeing the shortcuts to point out the right spot or something alonge those lines.
If you can get the aid to boot you can ftp in and make changes or use it to set up the drive to run XBMC as a main dash.

Just incase you ever want to change dashes again man you need to rename the evox xbe your replaceing to something down the list since the xbox will look for xbe files in an order so you should have renamed the xbe file that was there to something like ava.xbe.

Sorry man my bad i was thinking since you had been reading up on dashes you wold have came across that at some point.

If you wanna get back up and runnin in the mean time, until you get AID ,you can put the game in used to mod it to get to remotex so you can FTP to change the file name back.

Hi wes213,
I've managed to get it running again from AID 5.01 using splinter Cell, more by luck than judgement Exclamation In doing so I've loaded UnleashX as my dashboard. So I thought I'd try again to get XBMC to run as my default. Tried the shortcut thingy but to no avail.
You say above I need to rename the evox xbe. Sorry to appear dumb but why? Am I missing a connection between evox and xbmc somewhere along the line? My evoxdash.xbe is on E:\

I've also add an attachment here of a screen grab of my file structure ref my original question about default.xbe and XBMC

Ok what you need to do is open the xbmc folder and take all the files and folders out and drop them in the root E:

Hi wes,
I was unsure which of the XBMC folders you meant for me to move to the root E so as the E:\APPS|XBMC was where the T3CH files went I moved those to the root. Not sure what was supposed to happen then. I tried a reboot and UnleashX launched as my dashboard. I then tried to launch XBMC from the applications in Unleash and I got an error. So I moved all the folders back.
Is there a right or wrong place for folder locations?
How does the XBox start up?
Where does it look for start up info?
If I could get a handle on these points I think I'd have a better idea how to approach it.
Cheers for your help wes Very Happy

Hi again,

I've managed to get most things sorted now. I've even mapped SMB links to my PC Cool I can't get XBMC to load as default dash but I think I can live with that. I launch it from UnleashX apps.
Been playing with changing XBMC skins. Seems I can only use "version 2" skins. Had a bit of trouble finding any. The usual places don't seem to identify those that are version 2. Changing skins happens in E:\APPS\XBMC by the way so that seems to be the "active" location
