Yep. I am unlucky. And that was the link I gave in the previous post. I was attempting a variation discussed in the comments. You see, I had a controller, but no memory card. Now I have neither. God damn it. Aarrghhhh!
There aint a thing there that sounds good, you might want to check for modders near you and see what thay wold want for a quick softmod.
Theres a link in the noobs section and at the top of the page under the info tabs drop down.

Yeah man, I saw that, but no joy. I was thinking about standing outside with a sign, but it's cold...
How about this? Since 'XboxHDM is a LINUX Distro' and it's used to softmod, why can't I just do whatever xboxhdm does, just through the usb?
You can also hotswap the Xbox disk into an external (USB or FireWire) disk enclosure that is powered on and connected to your Linux computer. You don't have to open up or reboot your Linux machine if you do it this way. Your disk will appear as a SCSI disk (/dev/sda, sdb, etc.); check the system log or run dmesg to find out which device it is.
Anyway. So can't I load ubuntu, or knoppix etc (where there's good usb support) and just run the programs across the usb>ide...if you get my drift?

makes complete sense to me... all xhdm does is copy a ton of files thru linux... so... what you say may just work. I would probably try kubuntu first, but if that didn't work i have 10 other distros sitting here on my HDD... if U need one lemme know. I don't have k/ubuntu on my hdd, though, i just get the free cds through mail.
Gentoo might be a good option as well... _________________

Just thought I'd update. I tried hotswapping over the usb>ide but no matter what I tried, I couldn't get it to work.
Managed to take the xbox to a friend's house, and connected it to their ide cables on their computer.
Long and short of it, I now have a softmodded xbox.
Thanks for the help...
