OK so I have a softmodded xbox that I use as a test bed. Latley it has been used as a spare at lans which has been quite handy.

I was trying to restore the original MS dash to try a fresh install of SID5 and discovered that the original ms dash is wrong somehow.

the error message says "an error ocurred during update"

I was going to use xbhdm to reformat the drive, but thought as it is still softmodded I could probably FTP into it and replace the dash from my backup file on PC.

Also what is the easiest way to get a copy of the eeprom onto the PC? (just in case I have to reformat the drive) I do have an eeprom reader but that is really for when the box is completely dead.

Most of the time the back up of MS dash and eeprom are in the E root in a folder named backup.
But i think you can back it up to C drive too.

Well if you can find the backup ftp it to you pc.
