I've been reading this forum for almost a month now, and I haven't posted yet So I figured I'd do that. I modded my Xbox a long time ago, and had absolutely no idea what i was doing, but managed to mod it somehow anyway. I have UnleashX on there with a few emulators. And now, I've discovered AID, so I'm planning on re-modding my Xbox using the XBMC dash. Most people seem to like that best, and in terms of the features, I think that would probably be best for me too. So yeah, I downloaded AID 4.10 and put some of the add-on packs and then added the 4.11 add-on pack. I haven't modded my Xbox with it yet though. Is there anything I should know before going on with this?
My plan was to put my game saves onto my computer using the game saves manager, formatting the drive, putting the new software on there, and then putting the game saves back onto the Xbox.
Any comments (especially suggestions) would be greatly appreciated. ^^

Welcome to the HQ man...looks like you came to the right place. I think you will find this site to be a great modding resource and a huge help for all of your modding needs, questions, and problems etc....Anywayz, I'm not very experienced with softmodding myself but there are a lot of people here that are and they will be more than happy to help ya out here bro....I just wanted to say welcome to the HQ... _________________

Welcome to the HQ bro good to have you on board and all, as for any ideas on modding your xbox again i dont know what you used to mad in the first place but youll need to put it back to stock and then start the soft mod with sid 5 or tell me what your useing and ill see if we can get XBMC running on that.

It was a pretty long time ago that i modded it. When I boot with the tray open, I get a softmod menu. It's an older version of SID, but I'm not sure which. It's blue and based off UnleashX (it's quite pretty). The only dashboards included on it are EvoX and UnleashX (and 5950). I have the newest version of SID on my Action Replay memcard.

If you still got the backup ms dash and eeprom bin then all you need to do is boot with the eject so you get the sid screen and thare should be an option to restor to stock.
AAfter you get that just resoftmod with sid 5.
You can just add XBMC to the hdd the way it is, you can add it as an app or set it up as your main dash useing AID 4.0

There's an option to "restore ms backup" but I'm not sure if I backed it up, so I don't know if that'd work. There's another option to "patch ms 5960" Should I do that ainstead? Then after that, I'll just use Splinter Cell and Action Replay with SID... install the softmod and no dash, then use the AID disk to install everything I need? And is there a way to format the hard drive so that its not in separate partitions? (What's the purpose of the multiple partitions anyway, because )

Did you mean that as in I can just put XBMC on now without restoring the ms dash and remodding again? (sry, i dont know too much about this. ^^; I'm gonig to format it anyway i think, because its kinda messy in there. I didn't know what I was doing too well at first, so all my emulators and rom files aren't too organized. But yeah, can I just put the XBMC dash on now to see if I like it?

whatever you do, dont format...... With softmods, if you format, you'll end up with a dead box. If you want to restore you box to stock, dont format. Just delete everything but your dash files on c and restore the ms dash. _________________

Yeah if the xbox softmod is working you can just add xbmc to it and it will work.
You can use the aid disc to install it or get the newest build from t3ch and ftp it in.
But if you want your ms dash back and update all that use ripz advice to remove and update.
So just delete everything in the E drive except for TDATA UDATA and MSDash? and leave the C drive alone for now. Then put in the AID disks and install everything from there? (And this will preserve my game data too?) (I guess I'll install the dashboard and all that good stuff to the C drive and the Apps and such to the E drive because thats how i have it now.)

No man all your game data such as saves are in the udata and tdata, you can ftp them to your pc and when your done reinstalling your softmod reinstall the udata and tdata with your ftp .
