Hi all I've copied this post from one I had at newbie central. Can anyone help.
Hi Guys,
back from my hols now so I thought I'd better get back to setting up the beast.
Thanks for your guidance TheRealHypnotiX. I've grabbed a couple of skins and copied them across my network to the XBox as you suggested.
I appear to have 2 XBMC folders so I've tried the skin folder in both.
What I'm seeing is the choice of Project Mayhem (which I already had available on my box) and the skin I've added, xTV, but it's greyed out and I can't select it. I've tried to put it in the other folder, E/APPS/XBMC/SKIN but now I can't seem to copy files across my network. I'm going to do a restart on everything to see if that helps, but am I missing something obvious

Xtv might not work with the ver. of xbmc your running try xbmc 360 or vision.
and to get your network running again try updateing XBMC to the new svn build you can find a link on the xbox-hq.com home page.

Cheers Wes
I've since discovered that I can only transfer files from my PC to the XBox using FTP software such as SmartFTP, which I am trying. Is this correct? Also, how do I check what Ver of XBMC I have? I recently installed from AID so I am assuming I have a fairly recent ver.
Cheers

Yes smart ftp and flash fxp is the best thing for moveing files, and to see what xbmc build you have go to the power off button in the bottem right corner of xbmc main dash, it brings up a bar with info, reboot, shutdown and bookmarks go to info you will find your build thare and you can update the build here. http://217.118.215.116/

Hi Wes,
Fanx for that, great tip.
I've established my build and I'll now have a look for skins that may work. I have copied files across using SmartFTP but they are still greyed out on the XBox. !
I've also noticed that I have a facilty there called T3CH downloader. I assume this will allow me to directly download the latest build? Dumb question I know but, it's asking for a download location, is this my XBMC folder? I appear to have an XBMC folder in several places, which is the "active" one?

The t3ch downloader wont update it for you, i down load it to my pc desk top then ftp my user data folder, scripts folder and skin folder from the xbox to the build on you desk top over wrighting the folders in the build on your desktop.
Now rename the build on your desk top to XBMC2 ftp it to the same folder as the build on your xbox so it reads xbmc, xbmc2, go to the default xbe file in xbmc2 and launch if it works fine the launch avalaunch or any other dash to delete the xbmc folder and rename xbmc2 to xbmc and thats it.
I dont get why you got 2 xbmc on your xbox unless you are talking about the xbmc folder and the Q drive.
But Q drive is just a short cut of sorts to your xbmc folder note the Q drive is the same size as you C drive.
If you really have 2 xbmc folders make a change to the build you use like change the screen saver then launch both builds and see wich one uses the new screen saver.
hope that helps.

As I'm a bit of a Newbie perhaps I can have a go at what you've suggested and let you know where I get stuck, that way you can include or expand on those bits in your tut.
I'm fairly ok with PCs but some of this XBox stuff makes little sense to me, I'm sure I'm not the only one. It just doesn't seem to have the same logic or be as structured, or is that just me?

Hey wes213, can i also use the latest xbmc on the ftp and update it with the aid updater tool to get it straight on the disc, or would you advise me to first install the xbmc on the disc of AID v4.02 then ftp update it ?

Keniff, no your not the only one, me same here welcome to the club and i am IT technician...
The consoles actually have the same basic's and some carry same naming like BIOS, it's same name and doing just like a pc...
But Dash perhaps is like the OS for the console just like windows/linux etc. for the pc... i'm bit by bit getting to understand the differences between al the different names and simularities between console and pc...
Long story short, Welcome to the club your NOT the only one
