My xbox v1.2 has an Aladdin XT mod chip, EvoX M8 Bios and XBMC dashboard.

It has been working perfectly till a week ago when I noticed it was booting by itself, so I would press the power button on the xbox and turn it off. This happened about 4 times and now the power button does not turn it on or off.
I have to turn off the power at the wall switch and when I power it on again it only boots to normal xbox, which is good if I only want to play games, but I have no access to the media centre.

Any suggestions?

Take your chip off the LPC ports and see if that helps. Sounds like your chip may have gave out.
