that has all the software. Should I softmod the new xbox, or should I clone the old hard disk from the chipped Xbox and use that clone in the new Xbox? I'm not sure if a clone will work. Or should I replace the old hard disk, and then use the installer to install the software, then place the hard disk in the 2nd Xbox? Any recommendations?

the only way the hard drive would work cloned is if it was an existing hard drive with the softmod exploit on it. you cant clone a hdd from a chipped box and pair it with a non-chipped mobo...it wont work.

it either has to have softmod exploit on it, or a chip.

does that help / make sense?

Yeah, basically, the HDD in the chipped box is locked to the chipped box mobo. So cloning it and adding it into a different box will result in an error and you won't be able to use it.

Best bet is to use SID on the new (non chipped) box and start from new. Leave the chipped box and its HDD out of the equation.

see the deal is when you softmod...you cant really mess anything up (unless you are really creative) then you dont have any errors to correct to make it interesting Very Happy

Is it free BG? Then why didn't you say! Razz

For first timers, a softmod is a safe, easy choice. Just don't go deleting files and folders once your done, thats how things stop responding!

Thank you all for your help. I installed the softmod which was easy, but now I can't boot the ISO of AutoInstaller 4.01. I used DVD Decrypt and I also tried burning it with the 1GB dummy file. It doesn't read, not even on the old chipped Xbox. And I tested other DVDs and they work, but not the ISO for Autoinstaller 4.01. Any help please?

My recommendation would have been to remove the dummy file, some DVD drives actually read the AID disc better without it, which it what I assume you did yeah?

Need anything else, just shout. Glad you got it working.
