I have upgraded HDD to a 80gig model and everything seems fine but some games will not load past the press start screen. this is stange as they work on my old stock 10GIG model. I have tryed cleaning out the cach and that doesnt seem to help. Any ideas why this might be and how I could fix it.

OK you could either be missing some files, or you may need to patch the xbe because some games wont play off the HDD without a patch. _________________

What cache exactly did you clear? The x,y,z drives are also cache. Try clearing those too. _________________

The X.Y Z drives are the only ones I know of where else could i need to look? plus on a nother note Halo 2 seems to work now but not sure why ( I haven done anything with the machine other than watch a avi movie on XBMC.) but all the other games I try still lock up on the press stert screen. I also found out Flatout 2 doesnt work also.

This seems to have done the trick there where 2 litle 512k files in there called localcach. I just loaded up starwars republic commando. I will test more in a Min. Once again thank you so much for your help. P.S What Info do those files contain? I am guessing there to tell the game what the x,y,z drives contain. Am I right? Just out of intrest that is.

Think of the cache folder as the same as your "temporary internet files" on your PC. It contains files relating to Games, apps etc to make it load quicker, remember file locations etc. Sometimes, they can be outdated or need to be replaced by newer files.
Clearing the cacje basically wipes any old files that are causing problems, and when the game/app starts, replaces them with newer ones.

Yer I was wondering why it causes problems with upgraded HDD's and not stock ones. Is there a problem flushing the cache on them or are the files geting garbled maybe?

the ones that are in the actual cache folder. The 2 localcache files in your E/chache folder. I mean I understand what all the files that pop up in the x,y,z drives are. I assume Auyx is right about them telling your box whats in the x,y,z drives. _________________
