Hello.
I am trying to softmod my Xbox.
I am using SID v5.0.
My Xbox is v1.2(b).
My Dashboard is v1.00.5960.01.
I am installing with an Action Replay card via Agent Under Fire.
Here is my problem...
SID starts perfectly and proceeds to install the softmod and UnleashX onto my console.
When I restart my Xbox (without a disc in) the power ring flashes red and green and I get the #13 error (meaning there is a problem with the dashboard).
I can uninstall the softmod no-problem, but after several attempts to get this working it is driving me nuts!
I've tried using dual boot (neither of which worked) and running SID4.5 but all to no avail.
Any suggestions as to what I could try to get it running?

Use SID 5.01. SID 5.0 had that glitch where after you took the game disk out it gave you an error screen. In SID 5.01 this problem has been fixed. _________________

I'll give that a try but I've already tried using SID 4.5 and the Krayzie Ndure Pack. Both give me the same error #13.
I'll let you know how I get on, but if anyone has any suggestions in the meantime that would be much appreciated.

Downloaded SID 5.1.
Installed no problem.
Still getting Error #13 on reboot.
Am I doing something wrong?

First I installed Single boot.
That gave me Error #13.
So I removed the softmod and tried installing various dual boots.
When I booted with the power switch I got the MS dash.
When I booted with the eject button I got the MS dash.
I'm guessing that's not right...
Any suggestions?

Ok if you have a non HDTV choose the duel boot option, hacked dash / ms dash. Then in the next menu choose virtual C+EEPROM. If you have an HDTV choose the same one in the first menu and choose virtual C+EEPROM for HD. _________________

I tried exactly what you said.
When it gets to the bit where it says "Shutdown, remove DVDs & restart" I get error #13 on both boot methods (eject button & power switch).
So then I load AUF and expecting the installation to continue when I load my Linux savegame (like the last time did a dual boot install) except, instead of going to SID, the power ring goes orange and AUF restarts! When I go to eject the disc it only ejects halfway before the Xbox gobbles it back up again...
So now my xBox will not boot to any dashboard and I can't uninstall the softmod!
Please help...

Dashboard launch fail (due to missing/bad key, or anything else that would prevent it from running) and the dashboard didn't specify why it failed.
All i can say now is to keep trying to load the AUF game again and unistall the softmods. Then while in the installer menu you can FTP in it. FTP the dash files here, as it may fix your problem.

Ok this is all what happened, in order. I softmodded my xbox with Evox and everything went fine (YAY!). So I start modding halo2 and all that good stuff and everything worked great. After a few days I played on Xlink Kai (It's like live except free) and I decided i wanted XBMC instead of Evox because it has Kai on the Xbox so i wouldn't have to get on my CPU all the time. So I followed this tut for installing XBMC and I finished and was happy until i rebooted my xbox the error 13 screen popped up and I didn't know what I had done wrong . Now I can only play games and not access modded dash or MS dash, so I can't FTP to my xbox, plus I'm only 14 and my dad won't let me hotswap ! Any Ideas for helping me? Much appreciated.

If you can still boot games, then hoepfully you still have the original gamesave you used to softmod your xbox. If you do, you can just re softmod. _________________

I can boot games, but I dont have the game save anymore. It was for mechassault and it isnt there anymore. I also tried to do the update dash thing but it just gave me error 21.

Well, that leaves you with 3 options:
1. Hotswap (which your dad won't let you do).
2. Buy a modchip (which I doubt you want).
3. Get someone with a modded box to copy the gamesave exploit onto a memory card, action replay or USB drive for you to use in your Xbox, with one of the three games able to perform the softmod.
Option 3 is your best bet if your dad won't let you hotswap.
