Hi, I want to keep my original HDD, so I decided to buy a new HDD to softmod this one. In the Softmod.Installer.Deluxe.pdf manual I read how to do this by using a pc ("hard drive upgrade using a pc"). I need to backup C, E and eeprom, but in the same manual it doesn't have the option to backup E (only C and eeprom according to the screenshots). So how to backup those (or is this possible when using the splinter cell gamesave hack (is this the same as the EvoX dash I need?)). And is it true that the ftp server will be started after the splinter cell gamesave hack? Thank you in advance, the chapter I'm talking about doesn't seem to have a lot to do with the softmod.installer.deluxe since i can't know how to get the EvoX dash started to backup my c, e and eeprom. Thanx again for your time!

If I remember right, E is your game saves. You SHOULD be able to FTP just the T and U data folders to your PC and put them back on without a problem. If you would like you can Msg me on AIM and I'll try to help you more.

FTP your whole C:\ and your E:\ to your comp. Then in the E:\UDATA part EEPROM backup is in there. Thats how you get out the E:\

Hi, I don't have a modded box jet. I want to softmod mine, but I want to put in a bigger hdd in it and i want to leave the original h dd the way it is (unmodded). So what i basically try to do is to create a new hdd the way it is explained in the softmod.installer.deluxe.pdf manual. I'm only getting confused on how to get the c, e and eeprom to my PC. Can I just FTP tp them right away or do i have to use the splinter cell hack (i have that game) to create backups so that I can download the backups to my pc... thank you in advance!

You use the splinter cell hack to create a backup of the C drive, then the eeprom I guess is in your UData folder. Then once everything from C is backed up, FTP both C and E drives to your PC. From there install the new HDD and then FTP it all back and then it should be easy to make the new HDD formatted to your xbox. After that, well buddy, I never softmodded to a upgrade HDD, someone elses speciality. It should be easy I'd think. If you really have to do a hotswap on the HDD, but I've only done that with a modded XBox so I don't know if it'd work, the hotswap is a last final "I don't care anymore" resort.

OK you must mod your old HDD to get the files off. You can unmod it later, just will need to now. Its not too hard really. Ill give you a few links.

Ok so I understand that I have to use the splinter cell hack to softmod my xbox first? Then I will be able to ftp to get the neccessary backup of the c and e drive? I thought it was possible to get the files from my xbox on my pc without softmodding (im not sure when the ftp server is started though, probably the reason why it should be softmodded, so I can connect through ftp? Or will a ftp server be started right after I used the splinter cell hack, because in that case I don't see a reason to completely softmod my original hdd) . After getting the files to my pc, I create the new HDD using Xboxhdm, plug it in my xbox and it should work? And then I can softmod this drive the regular way? THank you all again!

Pretty much yes you can FTP in the installer menu. You can't FTP in the normal dash though. The pass for FTP is xbox, and the username is xbox. Also you will only need to back up the eeprom, since you will be getting the whole C:\ into the C:\ of xboxhdm.

Well everything worked out fine, until the last step, my hadrdrive doesn't want to lock by using the lockhd -a command, it states: "Drive does not Support the ATA security". I was not aware of the compatibility hdd list, so are there any other options I can try to lock my disc? Thanks!

Well since its not lockable nothing will be able to lock it. So you got to get another HDD, thats your only way.

Well ok, seems that I have to buy me another new HDD (again...). Problem is that I see lots of HDD's in the compatibility list which are both lockable and unlockable, so it seems like every HDD you buy is a risk... Has anyone an advice on which HDD (around 80 GB) will definitely work?

Checj the list.If it says its lockable, its lockable. It seems like most HDDs can be locked.
