Most likely is because they can barely get windows 98 on run on it(dunno if they can yet but know they close), and linux is much more complex then windows. It could be possible in the future if all the modding teams don't stop on the old xbox and go to the 360 _________________
I think 98 doesnt run well on the xbox beacause of the limited amout of ram, after all it is running x-dsl and windows at the same time taking up more resources...but thats just my opinion i could be wrong.....

From my understanding you CAN run linux on an xbox. There is also a way to upgrade your ram, but its not something you want to do unless your an expert with a soldering iron. I dont really know much about linux or runnning it on an xbox, but I'm sure someone who does will come across this too. Jay and Silent Bob rock! _________________

Well, the first thing I'd want to do here is mention that linux does run just fine, there are some problems with the video drivers for various revisions of the xbox.
Windows98 runs (albeit slowly) INSIDE of linux, using either qemu or vmware pc emulators.
So it'd a much better idea to just run linux itself, without heaping win98 atop it.
And there's probably the fastest "out of the box" and the easiest one to jump into without a heavy learning curve. I'd not recommend any of the others until you've stretched your legs with linux first. Luckily, it's included with the AID disk, so you don't even need to download anything else!
