my friend's xbox was softmod'd by one of his clients at his work. it has like the xbox 360 menu's and he has all these emulators and also can copy games to his xbox hard drive. I would ask him to mod mine out but he doesn't know how. i found this website and was wondering if you guys could help me out. thanks

You definatly found the right place. Sounds like hes using unleash x with a 360 skin. The easiest way to mod your box is to use one of the game exploits (splinter cell, mech assault, or 007 agent under fire). What you need to do is get ahold of an original version of one of these games (about $2-$5 us), make sure its not a greatest hits version. Next you need to get ahold of an action replay device. You can make your own and use the action replay software if you feel up to it (its super easy). then finaly, you need to get ahold of the exploit file. Then all you need to do is transfer the exploit from your pc to your box using the action replay device. Run the game and select run linux. It may seem complicated at first, but once you realize how to do it you'll be suprised at how easy it is. If you search the tutorials for softmod I'm pretty sure you will find a step by step guid on how to do it.
