Ok heres the deal, my cousin has an xbox that aparently the hard drive went bad (acording to m4 tech support) and they told him to clear all the saved games and whatever else may be on it and it still didnt work (unmodded)..so i took out the hard drive and was gonna just put in a new bigger harddrive, but i moved and lost the hard drive somewhere, is it possile to use the system files from another xbox that is the same version to get the eeprom and what not and build the new drive?

What you'll have to do now is perform a hotswap on the drive to get the Xbox back up and running. As you don't have the files from the original drive, you'll need to download the latest version of MS Dash.
Follow the tutorial underneath my sig to help you perform the hotswap.
Ok sounds good, it was just a thought...The tut is a little confusing but im pretty sure i understand it. all i need to do is get the new hdd and burn the image and see what happens... if all else fails i guess i could attempt to build an eeprom reader, i cant break it anymore than it is lol

You can always put a modchip in it too....dont know if you want to spend the money but i personally think modchips are worth the small price that they are....they eliminate a lot of headaches and have become very user friendly for installing especially if you are weary about soldering....good luck. _________________ Xbox V1.6

also there are solderless ones which are very simple to install, and then flashing a breeze too. _________________ (2) XBOX v1.4:

SUCCESS!! I constructed an eeprom reader and successfully read/recovered the xbox's eeprom saved it and used xboxhdm and newest ms dash to build and lock the new drive
