ive been trying to resurect an xbox i messed up a while back and was about to attempt a procedure, before i try i need sum adivce or i may be doing something totally wrong!!!!
first the hard drive should be fine but i accidently unlocked the hd and didnt lock it again!!! so i had an idae after reading apost, the softmod procedure for putting a bigger hard drive in where you swap the hard with the dvd drive and format it set it up LOCK it, and replace it as the main one - can i do that with my retail hdd on my other xbox not swap them and just put it back in the other xbox????

nope not at all, i was gonna reformat it and clone my other cystal xboxs hard drive, and maybe a wing and a prayer hoping it'll work

If the you have the eeprom backed up to your xbox HDD you could also explorer the hard drive with something like xboxhdm and the "explorer" option that comes up after selecting 1. You could then find the file on the HDD, mount another device(floppy, USB, etc) and copy the file across.
I am currently working on a program that should allow you to do this through windows as well. If you did backup to the xbox, PM me and I'll send you the alpha version that may let you copy the file off the HDD in windows. _________________ Hotswap|HDD Upgrade|X3 Guide
