i just bought a replacement phillips dvd drive for a friend that has a v1.1 softmodded xbox with sid 4.5 but i will not recognize any discs now. retail or back up any suggestions i downloaded the phillips firmware in the vip downloads but i dont want to or know how to update the firmware until i know exactly that it will work

just a little strange and no i didnt clean it . now i also wanted to let you know that i bought it from diveno china and the xbox is dvd region 1 does that matter
