I have a 1.6 Xbox with an Xecuter 2.6CE modchip. Running Evox M8 bios. Evox as the dashboard. My xbox is NTSC.

I thought I could play import-games with a modded box. However, I have a PAL games I got from Ebay and it will work. NTSC games work fine, even backups.

I'm wondering if it has anything to do with my HD-AV cables. I have the box connected to a plasma TV using the HD-AV pack.

In any case, I tried running that PAL-NTSC switching app (Enigma?) but all I get is a blank screen once I switch to the PAL setting. When switched to PAL, I had to take the xbox to another TV and hook it up to a set top DVD recorder that supports PAL just so I could switch the thing back to NTSC.

A friend of mine is able to play either NTSC or PAL on his modded xbox but his modchip and bios are MUCH older than mine is.

Carlos

Ok, update...

Using the standard AV cables on a regular TV does the same thing. I can play NTSC but not PAL games.

Any ideas?

Dunno if it would sole the issue, but get rid on Evox M8 and use the X2 5035 instead. here is a link to a file that will produce a configuration file, just make the file, put it in the root of your E drive, flash the 5035 bios and and your good to go.

Well, I'm now on X2 5035 bios and the PAL games are still a no go. Oh well, at least I have a nicer BIOS.

Update, looks like my box can play PAL games after all.

Borrowed a different PAL game from a friend and it works just fine. We suspect the other disc is crapped out.

PAL XBOX does not support HDTV..

Only NTSC.

That is the problem..

I know this for a fact as there is no HD options when you switch you xbox to a PAL REGION..

Maybe that could help you.
