yes u could easily use a used hdd. All u need is a burned copy of AID. pop in ur new hdd and use aid to format/prepare the hard drive for u. After this is done, you can just install whatever softwares you need on it through AID. I know... AID is the BEST!! _________________

Don't think that kind of a hotswap will work. Are you softmodded? I believe that's why you got an Error 5.
check that tut out. _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."

if it is not lockable then u cannot load the ms dash but what you are saying AID is not working? well AID should simply detect the new drive, worked for me. try to format it with ur pc then put in xbox and prepare with AID... _________________

And Manik, It's lookin like he's softmodded, that's why the AID option WON'T work. You can't just switch HDD's on a softmod and pop in AID. It doesn't work like that. It's a bit more advanced and twisted, lol. _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."

If he is in fact softmodded (no chip, no TSOP) then he'll have to follow the tutorial I posted earlier on this thread. It will get him right there to where he needs to be, but he has to start with his ORIGINAL hard drive. _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."

Trust me, AID is the only disc you'll need. I might be a bit biased, but seriously, it's fully loaded, and always updated. As a matter of fact, 3.1 should be out pretty soon. _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."
