The xapter is a great solderless option, all you have to do is power on to see if the lights go on. If they do, great, it's done, don't even need to put the dvd or hdd back before you test it.

The metal things are pogo pins. They are inserted through via holes in the mother board.

What, Lan and HDD wires, there are none.

If you but that solderless adapter, if you have a 1.0-1.5 xbox, you use 1 wire, and a 1.6-1.6b xbox, youu use 5 wires.
