I turned on my softmodded xbox 2 nights ago and it came up with a error 21 so thinking that i was screwed i figured to atleast try a retail game and boom it worked as far as playing. When I take out the game and it boots up I have no dashboard. Anyone with some help would be greatly welcomes

Do you have the AID disk? If so see if it will boot. If it can try to reinsall your dashboard.

not sure of the softmod but it was done with slayers installer. and no aid will not boot

Well there's the problem
Unfortunately if you can't get softmod files onto the xbox your likely going to have to hotswap. So no MSdash at all? _________________ Hotswap|HDD Upgrade|X3 Guide

no dash at all and with no dash no ftp access

K, when you get it things will be easier.
Download xboxhdm. Download the SMdash files in my signature. Extract both.
Put the msdash files in Linux\C. and the eeprom.bin(has to be named that) in the EEPROM file. Then go back to the main xboxhdm directory and choose make-iso-win.bat. This will make an ISO file. Burn it to a cd and leave the cd in the drive. power down the xbox.
remove any hard drives. Attach your xbox hdd to the master slot on your primary IDE channel, and your cd drive to secondary master. power on, change your bios to boot from cd.
You will be greeted with a screen. choose 3, and when you get a prompt type "unlock -a". reboot the pc. You'll get the original screen, choose 1, when prompted type xboxhd. Now hit 1 to create a harddrive from scratch. Follow the prompts as they are shown. When this is done, reset. Choose 3 and type "lockhd -a". This will relock the HDD. put it back in the xbox and yo ushold now see the original MS dash. _________________ Hotswap|HDD Upgrade|X3 Guide

Your box was softmodded before. So try this, boot the game that was used to softmod the box. If you see the linux installer files under the save menu, relaunch, softmod and you're good to go. Hotswapping should almost always be a last resort. Error 21's are so easy to fix, it's sick. _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."

would it be easier to take the splinter cell hack and game with AID 3.0.3 and re mod the xbox ?

thank you all for the help and tips and have completed my first hotswap sucessfully and was able to remod my xbox. I plan to hang out here alot more to absorb all the knowledge I can from all you gurus
