I'm the guy who was on here before saying I couldn't get into the xbox wirelessly. Well I went out and got a cable, and it's running from my router to the xbox. I still can't so much as ping the damn thing. I've tried every setting. DHCP on/off. I've tried adding the xbox static IP into every field in windows I can find. Nothin. What on earth am I doing wrong? Here's the stats on my setup currently.
xbox, static ip: 192.168.0.4
router, local ip: 192.168.1.1
pc: 192.168.1.100
What's the magic setting here folks that makes it work? Winner gets a lollipop. Thnx.

What dashboard? What kind of router (if it's linksys, I can help you step by step) are you using the right cable??? If you have a router, it needs to be CAT5 or CAT5e grade, NOT crossover. the way you can tell is by putting the two ends of the cable right next to each other. If they both have the same color sequence (ex, both go red, blue, yellow, orange, black) then it's Network/router cable. If one goes, red, blue, yellow, back, orange, then it's crossover.
Note, these are just examples and are in now way accurate to a real cable schematic. _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."

The dashboard I think is MXM (Plays nin in the background, and on the right hand side of the screen I see disk stats, etc...and it shows my static ip). The router is linksys. The cable is a regular cat5 ethernet, non crossover. The light on my router for that input is lit up. Like i said, tried everything I could think of, and still cant ping the box.

check my post on that thread, it might help you out a bit. Oh, and switch your dash, Use UnleashX or XBMC for best results (they can be found on AID) _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."

I thought the whole reason I'm even trying to ftp in the first place is so I can copy over XBMC and then be able to use it as my dash! I've been going off this guide:

Ok, makes sense. But how do I change the static ip on the xbox?

not to mention the subnets of your IPs are not the same.
It should look like this
xbox, static ip: 192.168.1.4
router, local ip: 192.168.1.1
pc: 192.168.1.100

If using unleash, go down to your network settings, and select "Network Type" and change to static, then you can change the IP, Subnet, and the DNS.
Note, if you don't set the DNS, you WILL NOT be able to connect to the internet at all. If you're havign trouble finding this, check the status page of your router's setup, or contact your ISP. _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."

My dash is not unleash, but it seems like it should be. mxm doesn't let you change any settings. Can I ask: what was the workflow you used to get your mod up and working, and what is it's current setup. Did you basically just get unleash on there, ftp over xbmc, and you were good to go?
