Or you could try to read pirrups very cool tutorial.... (cough cough chip cough) and it really has helped a lot of folks (cough cough chip cough) get their softmods fixed.

Yeah I would get yourself a modchip! Then you can esily use Xbox live and much easier to restore if you ask me.
