Nope. You must use a properly locked HDD on your non-modded XBox. Locking it on HIS box would only guarantee it won't ever work on your box...

Hi House,

Sometimes using a different computer all together can help.
You may have some issues with your current pc config..

If you can try to use another pc..

thats about all the advice i can give as i have never attemptd this one myself as i have modchip not a softmod.

I've decied to give up with the hotswap idea. So if I get a chip will this allow me to use this drive or is it a complete loss? If I do get a chip what is the current best chip to get for the xbox? Cheers for all the help so far with this problem.

I need help please.

Sorry if this isn't the place to post, but i'm new to this.

My hard drive in the Xbox is my making clunking noises at me, which i believe means it's goosed.

Can i put a new hard drive in my xbox even though i don't have a backup of the old drive?

Please help

Yes, as long as you chip the box with something like a Xenium, you can install almost as large a HDD as you wish without ever using the original HDD from the Xbox.

The easiest would be to chip it. You don't have to worry about locking issues. If you are able to back up the eeprom then you could do the hotswap and softmod the drive.

thanks guys.

the reason i mentioned softmod is that i know how to soft mod, but not to chip it.

That's all i know, so all the other stuff you said i need to learn

thanks
