Also my xbox version is a 1.1 I believe.
The FF portion of the serial # is 02 which if I'm reading corectly I should have version 1.1 the date on it is 2002-11-05 so I'm almost positive it is a 1.1 not a 1.6 like realmccoy had suggested.
So hopfully once I can figure out how to install my bios and everything else the harddrive will eventually lock
I still can't believe how much goes into all this modding.
Its actually somewhat fun trying to figure it out. I'll be a lot happier when I can get a bios and dashboard on there though.
Help!!!! why does it still tell me after i chose the file to flash that i have an error??????? file doesn't fit!!! doens't make sense i have a 200 gig hard drive it sure should fit, any ideas???? _________________ XBOX Version 1.1

Am I using the wrong bios?? where can i find the one you recomended??
I'm definitely NOT a Xenium Ice expert, but..... what size is the BIOS and what Bank Mode is your chip in? If you go to your Xenium OS, there is probably a "configuration" option.... this may take you to a new menu, where hopefully there will be some sort of "BIOS" option... play around with the menus until you find something like "bank mode". I don't know what your options will be once you get there, but if your chip is set for something like 4x256K and you're trying to flash it with a 512KB, it might be a tight fit! If this is the case, change the mode to something else (a mode that fits your BIOS)... if you have a 512KB BIOS, why not try 2x512K if that's an option? _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room

I know v1.1s came out in late 2002 and v1.6s came along ?mid-2004, so I'd bet v1.1 also

allright i'm confused the files i'm downloading are from the vip download section here. i tried a few of them all of them said the same error messege.
i wanted to just get the xecuter 2.4983.67 sounds like from reading some forms that is what everyone likes and uses so i might as well give it a shot. it says the file is 237 k
reading something else i found out that the file should be exactly 256 k or something might be wrong with it. is that true? actually all of the bios i see on here are not exactly 256k 512k or 1m
one more thing should the bios file be a .rar?? hope so cause what everything is coming up as.
still trying to play with my bios to see where the feature you're talking about may be... don't see anything so far... _________________ XBOX Version 1.1

BIOS should NOT be a .rar.... it should be a .BIN..... you need to extract the BIN file from the RAR... that will decompress it... I'm betting it'll end up being , oh, say...256K! _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room

I'm not sure where you'd put the BIOS.BIn file.... do you have a "BIOS" folder on your C drive? If so, try there first!
Those options I told you to look for will be on the screen when you're running Xenium OS.... _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room

I wasn't suggesting, was only guessing... Just from the data that I pulled up on successful HD locking with your model number that you furnished. The only two records that were showing failure were 1.6 machines, so I was just taking a stab that possibly there is something with the 1.6's that won't allow tht drive to lock.
I'll take a look and see what 1.0/1.1 users used to get thier drives to lock. I think I saw a few that used their Xenium Ice OS, but that doesn't mean there isn't other options. The bios is rather easy to install on the Xenium Ice. You have quite a few choices on your method that you will use.
Most people create Bios Cd's. Others just use the Xenium Ice's Networking capabilities to FTP the bios.bin file to their xbox HD and then flash that way.
I'll cover the bios CD first. If you are going to create the bios cd, you need to first get a hold of an .ISO creation tool/program such as Nero.
I recommend using the Xecuter2 4983.67 or 4983.06 bios (256k) for your chip. Download that bios and unzip it. You will also want to create what is called a dummy file. This can be anywhere from 50 to 100mb. When you create your bios cd you will have the bios.bin file and the dummy file burned to the disk. Since the bios.bin file is relatively small, we put the dummy file on there just to assure your DVD Drive in your xbox will read your disk contents.
With Nero, choose burning rom. When the Nero window opens, click new. You will have a few partitions in the next window. It's somewhat a windows explorer type of layout. Just select your files that you wish to burn and drag them to the compilation partition. It's the second over from the left. Once you have your dummy file and the bios.bin file in the compilation window, simply click on the burn icon. Looks like a matchstick on fire over top of a CD. The burn compilation will now open.
You have several tabs with various settings. Under the Multi-Session tab please select NO Multisession. Under the ISO section you want Max of 11 Characters. Character set you want ISO9660. Deselect Joliet.
Under the Burn tab choose a slower speed to ensure a good burn.
Then, burn the compilation.
Once you have your BIOS CD created press the eject button and insert the bios cd. I am assuming you have already set your retail kernel. If not, do not proceed without doing so.
From your Xenium Ice menu, select Launch Menu/Items. Select Add Item, Select Flash.
If your bios cd was created properly, and on media your DVD ROM Drive in your xbox will read, you will see a D drive listed along with C, E, X, Y, Z. Select the D drive and you will then see your dummy file and bios.bin file.
Select bios.bin
You will then be asked to name the flash. You can name it whatever you want, I typically name it EvoX Dash. That way, people who jump on my xbox know that if they select that it will launch the EvoX dash. I name my retail kernel MS Dash. This is also easy for family members to understand especially if you ever plan on joining XBL..which by the sounds of it you don't.
You will then be asked to assign an LED color to the flash. This is just another way of knowing what bios you are in when playing the xbox. A quick look at the external LED (optional to install) or through the vents on the left side of your xbox and you can see what color the LED on the chip is. Then you know if you are in retail bios or hacked bios.
To FTP the bios using Xenium Ice, simply go to Settings menu.
Goto FTP Settings and make sure FTP Server is showing ON
Goto Network Settings and change USING Dynamic IP to Static.
Assign an IP address according to your network configuration.
Restart network.
Open your favorite FTP program, for whatever reason most people use FlashFXP with xbox. It seems to be more stable. Configure your FLashFXP settings on your PC to connect to the xbox.
Once you connect you will see your HD partitions. Open the C or E and FTP the bios.bin file into your xbox. You will not need to create .ISO, you will not need dummy file.
Reboot your xbox and go through the flash again, but this time instead of selecting D for the bios.bin file select C or E depending on where you inserted the file. Navigate to the file and press A to select it. You go through the renaming and LED config just like if you used a Bios CD.
Please let me know if you need any other help. No PHD here...just a lot of reading in the forums...plus I have chipped dozens of machines with the Xenium Ice, so between myself and the other members we'll get you squared away.

Did you hear about the terrorist who is trying to destroy XBL? His name is BIOS.BIN Laden. Apologies for that lousy joke!
Anyway, you would use a program like WinRAR to extract the BIOS.BIN from the .RAR file. _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room

The Xenium Blue used to immediately force you to create your bank configuration. Either four 256k banks, two 512k banks, or 1 1mb bank or any combo as long as it all tallied 1mb so to speak.
The Xenium Ice probably has a way to set up your banks, but by default it is set for 4 256k banks.
So, if you downloaded a compressed bios that is for 256k banks, then once you decompress it you can FTP it to any partition of your HD that you choose.
Then after you select Launch menu, Add Item, Flash, you will be confronted with all of your drives/partitions on your xbox HD. Just navigate to where you stored it. You shouldn't have any problems after that.

SWEEEEEEEEET!!!!!
The autoinstaller, surprisingly, autoinstalls things!
it can autoinstall dashboards and applications & such
as far as taking full advantage of EvoX, I'm sure I don't take full advantage. Now you can FTP into your Xbox from your PC & you can install applications & games onto the HDD.
Here is a non-exhaustive list of things to do:
1. run emulators (SNES, GBA, etc.)
2. use Xbox Media Center to play MP3s & videos, do slideshows and the like
3. use programs to manage your game saves & add saves you download from the internet (XboxSaves Manager) _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room

when i ftp the iso file for the autoinstaller does it automatically start to work or do i need to do something in the evox app to make it work?
also how can i manage my files on the xbox hdd?? llike deleting unused files and so forth?
same thing with emulators, if i download a nes emulator, does that mean i have to unzip the file, put it onto my hdd with ftp, and then what?? does evox automatically recognize files? or is that what the autoinstaller is for?? sorry its kind of like an endless question field with this stuff.

Don't FTP it. Burn it to a DVD with DVD Decrypter (it's free! download it at http://www.dvddecrypter.com/ ). Then put it in your Xbox DVD drive and boot 'er up!
chucky wrote:

Lots of ways. I usually just start up FlashFXP (free trial.. http://www.flashfxp.com/ ), connect to my Xbox and delete unnecessary files that way. There are also various file management programs that run on the Xbox (check out the VIP downloads), but I found these a little more confusing to use, personally.

Definitely unZIP. You should FTP it into your Apps folder. If your Evox.ini file is properly configured, the next time you reboot, it will be automatically added to the list of programs on your Apps menu. Some autoinstallers may install emulators for you.

No problem! We're getting close to the end! Pretty soon, you'll be helping others... hopefully me! I have a few unresolved problems! maybe you'll figure them out... like "Why does my DVD2Xbox not work anymore????"
