Thats the thing isn't it. Its not like transferring an emulator, or ROM. Transferring a dash or XBMC, if you forget something or something mucks up, you can stop your whole Xbox working. Then you'll be at that "modchip or hotswap" crossroads.

well i downloaded it, but ive never really FTPd a dashboard before.
I find the best way to update the XBMC dash to a new t3ch build is as follows for me.
Take the XBMC folder to your desk top ftp your userdata and scripts folders from your old build to your new build on your PC.
Once you have replaced those folders then you can rename the new build fromXBMC to XBMC2.
Ftp the new build to the same place as the old XBMC in you xbox, since you renamed it XBMC2 it wont replace the old build.
Use the xbe file to launch the new build to make sure all your setting are intact and working.
If all is working with the new build use any dash but XBMC to delete the old build and rename the XBMC2 folder to XBMC.
Thats how i do it twice a month and have had no probs.

Like i say it works for me plus i like that you can test the new build with out droping the old build first.
It helps keep my goof ups down to a low rate.

Ok on my xbox the XBMC folder is in my F drive apps folder, so after i have moved my userdata and scripts folder to the new build and over wright the userdata and sripts folder that came in the new build i name it XBMC2 then i ftp it to the F drive apps folder so that the list gose xbmc then xbmc2.
Open the XBMC2 folder and click the XBMC.xbe file to launch it to make sure that all my settings like weather and short cut settings are the same as the old build then make sure you still have all you scrypts that you had in xbmc old build.
Now if all is good and the settings and scripts are the same as the old build you will need to launch lets say avalaunch but evox or any dash but XBMC will do go to the file manager and delete the old XBMC and rename XBMC2 to XBMC.
Hope that clears it up but if you are still not sure let me know better safe then sorry right.
