Try Sony dvd-r, thats all that my Thomson would read.
Ok, have an update. I finally got it to boot... Not sure what did the trick. I used the same media from the same spindle, but burned at 1x. Well, I will save this disk.
I installed new software for a softmod setup including the default dash being the X-Select + XBMC dash (single boot since dual boot never seemed to take). I assume this is not the latest XBMC version included on the AID 4.0 disk. I will update via FTP. I had already placed XBMC in my E:\Apps\XBMC... is this where I would update it or is it installed elsewhere?
