it says that i have a 1.6 xbox right under my name i thought you would have noticed lol.

i also dont know what it means to make the hdd a slave, im kind of new to all of the lingo around here, well not all of it lol.

I think you lost that info when you updated your avatar, its not under your name lol.

Harddrives typically have 3 or 4 pin settings

Master
Slave
Cable Select
and the optional one that ranges from manufacturer to manufacturer and drive type.

Harddrives these days have diagrams on the top of the harddrive depicting the jumper settings.

the pins will be located right next to the IDE female on the hard drive(where the IDE cable plugs in) that is where you will set the jumper!!!! Like he said on the top there may be a diagram telling u wat pins are wat, hope i helped any!

is there a tutorial with picyures for all of this??? and also, would it be easier if i just got an externl case for it, did all of the backing up and formatting then taking it out and using it?

i have a laptop hdd. its relatively old so it doesnt require a power plug but i have to use it on my adapter. it is an IBM travelstar 12.07 gigs

u need a jumper, a little white/black piece that covers 2 of the pins as it shows in the diagram! look on another old hdd or something to find one if it DOEsNT have 1. Then just put it on the 2 pins that it says enables slave/CS

ok is there a program i can format the laptop hdd with seeing as how i cannot right click an format it says that it cannot do it it might be being used by something, but its not. so is there a program i can get to just format it then can i have a tutorial on how to use xbhdmkr?

heres an easy way.
step 1.
-----------
slap urself cuz u didnt think of this

step 2.
----------
get ur adapter

step 3.
----------
get a modchip

step 4.
----------
flash the bios

step 5.
----------
download and burn aid 3.1

step 6.
----------
go to forman/prepare harddrive and install msdash.

step 7.
----------
if you dont need the modchip after send it to me, Ill gladly pay 150 for it Laughing

lmfao can you format drive with aid? if you can ill make a cd with it cuz i do have it. and i dont have the money for a modchip! i wish i had one but im flat broke lol dont get paid till the end of next week.
