i tried the tutorial , my problem is it detects the hard drive but unfortunenaley is is locked .what are my options now?
also i have a 40gb hardrive that i could use to put in the xbox how do i format and installlthe m$ dash or what ever?
and finally when i try to burn the xboxhd 1.9 tool with the M$ dash files in C folder the disk burns fine but when i look at the disk everything is there but the M$ dash files? what am i doing wrong?

ok so your trying to do hotswap w/out an eeprom??? and u got ur timeing right??? then xboxhd enter then buld new hd from scratch let it makes partitoins .. a couple of yes and say yes to F once done power it off and plug it back to xbox.. _________________ Xbox 360 Premium edition

well the problem i get is it reconizes the drive and says something like if i continue it will overwite or erase all data on drive . it then says do you want to continue, i choose yes and then nothing happens? could you explain how to do this a lil clearer ? lol

ok umm how did u make it on xboxhdm1.9?
everything sounds perfect excep u are not puttin the ms dashboard ....
so how did u set up xboxhdm1.9?
the correct thing would be this... download a fresh xhdm1.9 download ms-c from pirrup signiture... extract ms-c and transfer the contents of it to xboxhdm on C folder ....
then make iso win burn it on cdr then once ur ruing xdm1.9 then do
you will get a menu,now choose Option 1 (by typing ‘1’) and press enter to boot VGA console with xbox-drive utilities (default). Type ‘xboxhd’ when it asks you for a login. Another list of options will show up, choose option 1 again (the one that says ‘Build a new Xbox HD from scratch’) and it will begin to format and write the partition table etc. when it asks you about C type yes and when it asks you if you would like an F select yes .
and u should be fine by then... but re read the tut ...

i downloaded m$ dash , copy those files into the c folder in linux and burnt the cd but when i click on my cd-r drive to view the contents , above what is on the cd is a c folder saying files waiting to be written to cd?

ok so when i copy the m$ files do i open the folder and copy all the files or do i just copy the ms-c folder with all the files? in other words when i put the files in xboxhdm do i put them directly into the c folder or copy the ms-c folder into the c folder .

well i got the M$ dash files on the disk. now the problem is i boot to vga mode , type xboxhd then a screen comes up saying that the person who made the program , created a script to rebuild , build from scratch and restore hd . then it list all the devices (/dev/hda ext......
then it ask me if i want to continue. i click yes and nothing happens?

only thing i did different is burn the disk with ultra iso instead of dvd decrypter.i still havent gotten past where it reconizes my drive and asks me to continue. is there a command i have to type to get the build a xbox harddrive from scratch tool to run? i cant seem to get anything to work past xboxhd command ?
BTW - X-box live is not important, if that will make this easier on me.

Got it Formated.... well i was typing y instead of yes on that screen . i feal stupid . Gus thanks for the help , and any others. now do i have to lock the drive before i install it on the xbox? i tried once and couldnt get it to lock.
