Hi all,

Thought I'd shell out $20 just to see what these clear cases are like for fun.

http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-Original-GhostCase-Kit-Crystal-Clear/dp/B007QUD5EA

Seller's case did NOT include a transparent button molding for the faceplate. I talked with another modder on youtube. Said an ebay version DOES include a transparent button molding. Might purchase it for my other xbox:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-Xbox-GhostCase-CLEAR-/310324118646?pt=US_Other_Video_Game_Accessories&hash=item4840c24476

Don't know what the proper term for the button molding is, it is a plastic shape that covers the eject and power pushbutton connected to the RG LED lights. I have a picture of the grey OEM button molding attached.

I disassembled my black OEM faceplate to reinstall the clear faceplate. Problem is the grey OEM button molding stuck on a tube from the clear faceplate. I had to break off the tube and crack my OEM button molding to get it back. Picture attached

It doesn't seem like I can install the clear faceplate since it doesn't even have the button molding. In addition it doesn't even seem the grey OEM button molding fits WITHIN the transparent faceplate! Picture attached

I have some pictures attached to show where I am at. Anyone have any advice for how to get the clear faceplate on? Is there a transparent button molding I could buy separately on ebay or amazon without the case? That might be all I need. If not I will just put the black OEM faceplate back on with the ghostcase top cover and be on my merry way.

Thanks in advance for any advice offered

bump

Does anyone here who's used a ghost case have any advice?

@Hobbs, if no one answers, may I post a link in the 360 forums to this page? I'm sure quite a few people there are former original xbox users there who tried the ghost case.

^^ i did a quick search using the terms "xbox ghostcase forums" ...
dunno how helpful it'll be but since you're on a bender to get the word out, try "extrs" as well (if you already have, f*ckit)
..........
can't say i know what to advise here but unless i have an XCM housing, i wouldn't try anything else!
that said, that transparent housing could work if you took GREAT care and paid due attention to the "small" things!
............
you don't have to give a shit what comes next but if i had that thing and i really wanted to use it, i'd measure it up against all the original black housing/parts and see if i could get away with trimming any offset plastic, try to align it to the original housing as best i could!
if the differences were TOO drastic, then i wouldn't bother BUT save that transparent housing for another revision of xbox!
as i understand it, the xbox has different internal layouts vs each revision, find out what version your new housing would likely match and go from there!
^^ the above is NOT required you pay any mind, just an opinion of what i would do in your same situation, that's all! (life is full of alternative perspectives, strange they rarely apply to the ones giving them!)
..........................
good luck!
Cool Wink
..............
[edit]
try "llama.com" they know this kind of thing backwards! Very Happy
