ok i restored my xbox because of this < please read this > http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/227195 and i went to restore and it gave me error 21 when it booted and it would let me boot games so i loaded the hack back up and reinstalled the mod and delted all the traces of the mod then i hit restore ms backup again and then deleted all the other leftover like the ms backup and stuff <so i could take it back to bestbuy> what my question is why did i get the error i thought i was able to swicth back and forth guess not with the new xbox's? my module is on my sig im afraid to ever hit restore again tho lol any suggestions to why this did that i have 3 peoples like this and id hate to mess there up someday PS: mine was SID but i edited the SID boot file so it wouldnt boot the open tray thing but i think hat doesnt matter about this problem sence ms backup formats the c driver and freshly installs? btw if u can plz anwser my question from my link

If you can boot ORIGINAL GAMES then reinstall your softmo onto the xbox hdd.. I suggest installin gyour softmod with SID3 then you shouldnt have any problems..
SID3 is the latest version of the Softmod Installer and i havent found any probs with it myself..
Just install the softmod yourself again.. Then you should be able to roll back..
ANyway, apart from that just delete all the data from the xbox if you are going to return it...
if your returning it i suppose it dont really matter..
But im sure you could recover if you spend some time on it.

SID 3.0 can and may give problems on newest xboxes out there don't ask me why, cause i don't know, but my xbox is a 1.6b and it doesn't like nkpatcher and SID3.0, the only softmod good for it is SID 2.0 using PBL.
SID 3.0 gave me error 21, fortunally i was able to boot backups still, so i booted unleashx and used the file browser to manually restore.
p.s. : i don't mean disrespect, but AID disc is not always the option, and some ppl that are told to use the AID disc and hasn't downloaded it..... .
there should be help using it and not using it, since it's a simplyfied compilation, but all xbox problems can be solved without using AID. (don't take it wrong DJB and xbox-hq ppl, i just wanted to say this).

For newbies it is the best option..
AID can fix just about any problem you have.. Especially if you have a modchip..If you are silly enough to want to run a softmod then you should have done your homework before running any softmod installers..
Personally i wouldnt suggest a softmod unless you are definately broke..
Its just too much hassle..
With a modchip fitted you just upgrade you hdd and use AID..
If you get a error code with a modchip fitted you just use AID to fix.
Man, its so much simpler.. DJB has opened the door with his SID apps and they are still in the early stages too.. So you can expect every Softmod installation to be flawless really can you.. I dont!
Seriously.. We provide our tools to make things easier for the newbie..
Once you get your head around how the whole xbox works then you could manually fix your problems yourself via ftp anyway, You dont need AID yes but you do need all the files and its ease of use..
I would have though you yourself would have supported it a bit but obviously not..
When AID3 is released im positive most bugs will be gone..
All scripts are being rewritten again to make things simlper for the newbie..
Also, remember we only have a team of like 5 guys working on everything you see on HQ.. No other members can be bothered..

My Kids have a 1.6 box with sid 3 and it works great!!!
I for one, would not have not done any experimentation
With my box without the help of the aid & sid releases.
I have tried many other installer disks and not any of
Them are better, Especial for the novice user.

Exactly, same here. I've done all different types of Xboxes wish SID 3 and never have a problem.

omg i forgot to see if my backups would play before i took it back >.< if it does i may be fucked >.< once i restored the xbox ms i delted all files i seen that was to moding even the backups i didnt go into c driver sence isnt the restore ms dash thing suppose to format the c partition and give it clean install? what went wrong with that? my older xbox before never did that when i restored it >.< i wanna keep using sid 2 cause it just alot easier and i hate to mess with it sence it works my xbox is the newest one with hitachi drive for some reason the xbox i took back was very load on the lazer this one is the same kinda xbox but isnt that loud maybe it was all good that it messed up before my 90 days i got to keep my 2 yr warrnty for free =)
