I just got an action replay max and saw your SID3 file on their online list. It sounds pretty easy to just download that file onto my card and then load it into my Xbox using my old copy of Splinter Cell.
Is that a good copy of SID3? I don't want to load something that will damage my Xbox 'cause my Dad would kill me--he just bought a new Xbox a few weeks ago. I'm kind of paranoid because I noticed some kind of XML formating error in the Config.xml in the 000000000000 folder (near the root directory). Should I just go for it? I've read that other people had problems with version 3, but not version 2.
Is loading SID3 the best way to softmod, then just FTP all the other tools I need later?
Thanks for getting me interested in modding and sharing what you know. You're awesome!

souds like that is the correct installer, but i'm not sure that splinter cell boots from a 000000000000 folder, i know 007 AUF does.
go to softmod installer deluxe foruma and check in the info sticky, that will give you torrent download, and vip download.

Yeah do your homework on it as recovering can be hard without Modchip or pirrups hotwap tutorial!!
Hi...this is littleglitch's Dad. My son dragged me into this. He just turned 9 and wants to get the old man involved. I guess I'm to blame since I got him hooked on DukeNukem, Unreal, and Quake when he was 2 (his mother hates me for it).
Anyway, the question is: How do I know which Linux install I am downloading from a site? It looks like he has a zipped file on his memory card now called SID3Splint_InstallSID.zip and it is 6.07 MB. I am guessing that it originally came from xbox-hq because the Evox splash screens have the address in them, but the datelinfo.xbx file doesn't have any version info or anything and I want to make sure I have the latest and greatest (or at least one with minimum bugs). This looks like an easy install, but I hear so much about different installers, that I don't know which is the best/most safe (or if someone went crazy and stuffed something malicious in the install). I'm abviously an old nervous guy, but with everyone saying to get downloads at some unmentionable site or link, it makes me think I'm some kind of hacker that the federal government will crack down on. I just want to mod the games we already have and I think Bungie and Microsoft are stupid to not be more open to this sort of thing...if they are smart enough to make great games, they should be smart enough to allow modding with still making profits somehow--because I know it is so tempting to rent games and copy them on your harddrives, which unfortunately, hurts the modding community. Sorry to get off subject, but in addition to my original question, is there also some kind of open source gaming community that mods and writes games for open source Linux? If not, I'd like to bring some of you guys together, bring in some investors, and create the best modding experience we can have. Thanks for teaching my son what FTP is and not just how to spend all day blowing away grunts (fun that it is).

Yes the Xbox-HQ softmod installer is the only one to have, lol. Once you have soft modded the box then use Auto Installer Deulxe 2 to install apps, emulators etc...
There are hombrew games availble and there are fully functional linux distros aswell.
