Can someone please help?
I have just bought an xbox with the Xecutor 3 chip & 200 Gb HD & after reading posts about bios flashing I don't appear to be seeing the upgrade screen associated with the Cromwell bios. I don't think it has it on. Can any please advise the best way to put this onto the Chip or how to get to it if it on there? The place I bought it from is no help.

I believe you have to set your bios banks, ie 1 meg on or 2 meg on and such then press both the eject + the power, this should take you into the 256k back up bios which is the cromwell and then you should be able to flash the banks you set up _________________ XBOX v1.3

They won't be, they suggest you read on the chip before ever buying. The blue screen is flashbios. if you have a 1.6b you need to boot from banks 5678 (off on off off off) and that will give you 3.03 if you don't have the screen ( i kinow you saw the screen, but I want to explain why its the way it is.)
You from there have several ways to flash your chip. I would suggest web. Its very easy, just type in the ip address of the xbox into IE or Firefox, netscape.... anyways, you want to flash an x3 bios, not just another flashbios, that is no help.
Go to Xbins.com (you have to find your way to the IRC channel on efnet, #xbins. THen in the channel, type join #xbins, and then /msg xbins !list (or something to that degree)
You will be given an ftp address and password. Get an ftp program. Keep the IRC open while downloading *(only 30 files a day or you WILL BE BANNED)
/xbox/bios/xecuter/x3/ and you should find the new bios x3_3294 and download that
Its a 1mb file, flash that to banks 1234 (on on off off off) and you should be good to go from there.
Just a word of advice, use your x3 to partition the drive and FORMAT every sector so it will show up on the screen. If you don't it will read 0.0 GB in the F and G drives. _________________ XBOX v1.6

I am probably being really stupid here but I can only see 5 banks 1-5. I have set banks 1 & 2 to on & booted by pressing on & eject, the box powers on but nothing appears on the screen.
Also, how can I find out what version of xbox I have?

Here's the link to help you identify your xbox. You can use the serial number but it is not 100 percent correct (or so it is stated). The best way is to open your machine.

Ok, have tried booting with Banks set to off on off off off & by pressing the on & eject buttons. I get the initial Xbox splash screen, then get a blue screen flash up for a moment & then the picture goes altogether.
Any ideas would be realy appreciated. Thanks

With your banks set to off on off off, you do not need to use the power and eject button together. Also, when you press the power button it should be a quick press. _________________ Xbox v1.3

Yea, stop the power and eject, that is for the emergency backup bank, not the bios banks. just power.
Also, if you keep doing that, I have a problem with my x3, you have to delay the press of the eject after the power button. But Flasbhios 3.01 is on the backup. If you have a 1.6 you will need to recopy the backup bank with 3.o3

What video chip do you have (Xcalibur [1.6/b], Focus [1.4-1.5], Covent? [1.0-1.3]
Then if you have a Xcalibur Video Chip, do you have Samsung or Hynix ram>???

No, all chips should unless its defective, but that is not usually the case.

The A/V cable, is that the video cable? If so, I am using the one that came with the XBOX. Without the scart connection.

The x3 is a tricky chip. It is very unforgiving, especially the support boards on teamxecuter.com I Laugh at some people how they get flamed so badly. They don't even read anything.
*not to say they might flame you, you have a serious technical issue.
Check your soldering for all solder joints being healthy and shiny. I know that 13-14 pins are especially crucial one you have flashed the x3 bios. _________________ XBOX v1.6

Ok guys, we are getting somewhere. I have booted into Flashbios303 & updated the bios to X3_3294. But don't know where to go now.
I have restarted the XBOX but everything still looks the same.
Apologies for being such a newbie at this, but you guys are really helping.
My XBOX was manufactured in week 12 05. I haven't opened it but assume it is either a 1.6 or 1.6b.

Ok, first off, You need to find out if WHAT VERSION!!! you may need a 1.6 bios. YOU CAN"T KEEP DODGING THE ISSUE.I could guess to, but it won't be right.
And once into flashbios and its already loaded and on screen. (make sure all flash protections are off [chip and switch]) Set the switches to the 1st 1mb bank on on off off off. Then flsah. Don't touch anything, it will flash then turn off. Turn it back on, leaving the switches where they are. That should bring you into the X3cl screen _________________ XBOX v1.6
